I feel like this 2026 draft class may turn out to be one of the deepest in decades, possibly going back to 2003 with LeBron, wade, Carmelo, etc.. the top 4 picks are all showing out and there are so many other players playing well.

He was coming off three seasons where he averaged 16/3 with 38% from three and took a vet min two years in a row..

Last season he put out 8/1/1 and shot below 40%. Then he gets one of the top free agent contracts in the league.

So the problem is that Milwaukee likely promises they would give him this deal two years ago when they could only afford to give him the min. It's salary cap circumvention.

Just like the Joe Smith deal. Everyone has to work within the cap rules and you aren't allowed to promise a big payday in the future in exchange for less money now

I don't remember the details that well, but was the Joe Smith punishment more about that they had the deal in writing?

If there is nothing in writing, no smoking gun, how much punishment can they levy?

Maybe they tightened the language about this after the Joe Smith deal where they specify how much proof they need?

Joe Smith had the deal in writing because he didnt trust the old Glen Taylor wouldn't croak and he wouldn't get paid. That written thing just made it easy.

There isn't a burden of proof level similar to criminal trial. The NBA doesn't operate on beyond a reasonable doubt. They certainly can find that someone broke the rules without a smoking gun like it all written out and this one seems pretty obvious.
