Yeah, hunting players is definitely a thing. No one said otherwise.

Castle and Harper are also two of the best in the entire league at navigating ball screens on the perimeter. Isolating off them will take a lot of work for other teams.

Basically every team has someone they can exploit. Barnes and Keldon both have more defensive weaknesses than most of the rest of the players, but I don't think either is going to get close to played out of the game. Both are still useful rotation pieces. Barnes brings a lot of intangibles (and experience) that most other players don't have.

And I think we will see the Spurs exploit our superior depth to keep players fresh rather than tightening everything up significantly like most teams do. We did that in 2014 when we played 9 players 15+ mpg and no one over Duncan's 32.7mpg in the playoffs.

Our team this year is similar - we have 9 players over 20mpg plus Carter Bryant. Barnes will continue to lose minutes, but I think he still gets around 15-20mpg. Last 13 games, Barnes was shooting 47/44 in 23mpg. As long as he is shooting >40%, he's getting minutes.

Pistons just blew a 23 point lead to the Brooklyn Nets.

I guess they were jealous of the Clippers

Blowing a lead to one of the best teams in the league is one thing...

Blowing it to a team actively trying to lose is another level.

Orlando (sans the good Wagner) just blew out Minnesota, too!

That Minn loss moves Houston back up to the 3 seed.

With that Pistons loss, the Spurs officially move ahead of them.

Spurs are 2nd best in the NBA and just 2.5g behind OKC. Detroit is a half game back from the Spurs in 3rd place.

Admittedly i haven't followed the draft prospects this year (because our team is good ). I think we are in a position where we can draft for fit now. Are there any promising centers or power forwards expected to be around late lottery?

All have their warts of course that late in the draft, but I personally think we need a Daeron Sharp/Isiah Stewart type backup undersized C/physical PF that can bully people down low.

I think they should take Lendenberg, while not as "physical" as the 2 NBA players above, I think he can add a little more mass to his frame and they know what they are getting with him. Of course depends on what they think they can do in free agency to address the 3pt shooting, but the way I see our current roster is we have Wemby and Kornet as C and then a bunch of SF playing out of position at PF.

It's a weird one because none perfectly fit the archetype we want.

  • Yaxel is older than Paolo Banchero and is shooting ~30% from three.
  • Hannes is probably a center, not a PF and has low volume on shooting
  • Haugh is shooting under 34% from three, is 23yo and is only 215lbs.
  • Peat can't shoot
  • Lopez is shooting about 33% and doesn't have a single elite skill
  • Quaintance is injured and can't shoot
  • Cenac is at 32% from three (and falling) and has questions about his motor
  • Joshua Jefferson probably isn't quick enough to play PF and his shooting fell off at the end of the season (trade down guy)
  • Amari Allen is a SF that weighs 205.
  • Ament is a skinny SF and shooting 41/32.
The 2nd round guys I am interested in are:

Reuben Chinyelu (Florida) who is a 6'10 265lb ball of muscle with stonehands.

Henri Veersar - teammates with Carter Bryant last year. Put up big numbers as a weakside defender at UNC as a senior this year.

------------

I can talk myself into Yaxel, Hannes, Haugh, or Lopez pretty easily. Lopez is still 18 and probably measures 6'8 and 225 barefoot. I think there is an argument you take him and develop him into a 245lb PF. Hannes is taller but slower. Haugh has an elite motor like Bryant, but is skinny and older. Yaxel does everything we want, except shoot - he ended up at 30% against the Big 10 and he will be 24 when next season starts. Probably not going to improve much there.

I also think that trading down and getting just a pure shooting wing like Amari Allen or Cameron Carr would work and we just address PF through free agency.

Sengun is a dirty POS. I wish Plumlee was healthy to come in and give him a straight elbow to the ribs like he's doing Wemby.

And he might not even be the dirtiest player on the team.

He throws elbows and gets rewarded for fouls calls. He's a chump.

I love Ime's coaching here. DFS hits two threes by the mid-point of the 1st quarter and doesn't take a single three the rest of the game.

Hard to believe that Keldon has as many 3s as the Red Rocket, who pretty much exclusively shot 3s.
