Where are all those Spurs in this thread telling us how dumb we are for questioning Mitch?

This game alone is a fireable offense.

Just ask Orlando.

They will just blame it on the players and say they acted without Mitch. So, either he's **** or has no control of the team. Either way, fire his ass.

So that was definitely a backcourt violation

Are there any championship game collapses more embarrassing than this in all of sports history? The only one that comes to mind is the Falcons in the Super Bowl. Just a pathetic display in the second half. 30 points. 30 ****ing points in a half. They were in the bonus with 7 minutes left in the quarter. We get 6 more free throws the rest of the quarter because we kept chunking up jump shots.

Im no old, but bless your heart. You're forgetting the Oilers choke job. Nothing comes close. My dad has never let that down.

That wasn't a champ game. Oilers never made a Super Bowl.

The Spurs have no idea how to play with a lead. Not just tonight. Every game in the series.

Been a problem all year. They get three point happy and quit attacking.

And we never adjusted.

Poor coaching.

Yep. We're a streaky 3-point shooting team. You have to have a plan for when that goes cold. Also, know when to call time out. Maybe when the lead is cut to 9, not 4.

I won't criticize Mitch. The players have to have more fortitude than this and not try to coast on "Wemby will save us."

GDit, how do you let a lead like this go?!

Too young. Never been there. Next year type of talk and I hate it.

Playing two of the most impressive quarters (41 & 35) followed by two of the least (14 & 16) is truly bewildering. Spurs just needed their C game in the second half to win and it was an enormous F. This one is on Mitch.

Mitch is a bad coach

He doesn't control his team. They came out in the 3rd and went straight hero ball. Shooting 3 after 3 after 3. We shot 43 threes. HALF our shots...that is not good coaching when we were in the bonus.

Julian should have been riding pine. The book is out. Julian is an average but streaky shooter who can be baited to waste possesions with quick 3s. And teams HUNT him on defense...he is unplayable down the stretch.

Why on earth would you double Brunson? You have a big lead and don't want open 3s. So we double and give up open 3 after open 3.

Last play, you double and give up open rebounds...why? Put Castle on him, switch everything. He still got a shot up and we had no one to rebound.

His "trusted vet" simply stinks. Fox could have dribbled that out and forced a foul. He turned it over again and again. He shot over and over. He is not it.

This team is better than the product. The coaching staff finds something working but then panicked when Brunson scored a few to close within 15. The answer was benching Julian and bringing in Harper or Castle. The answer was not to double Brunson so they could go nuts from 3.

I have never watched a worse collapse because it was still about 20 at one point in the 4th.

I will say this - Wemby was bad. He couldn't shoot. He choked at the line. He refused to dunk and kept trying to finesse layups. Go up and dunk...you are 7'5".

I don't think the Spurs had more than 5 collective brain cells to rub together in the second half. Yes, the players are young, but I think Mitch has more of the blame here for not pounding into them the proper game plan for each of the last quarters to keep a lead.

Pop with this same team would have them rolling with a 40 point lead.

This loss is just unfathomable. Everyone could see it coming when there was no gameplan and we just kept shooting threes 5 seconds into the clock. Open or not, we never tried to get better shots or kill time.

And Mitch just stood there and acted like the lead was safe.

This was on Fox…so many turnovers and any high schooler knows to dribble that ball out. Even a made bucket still allows NY a chance to tie with a three.

They had a trip in the second half where they took 3 threes on one possession. Three. And missed every one of them. Wemby took two of them. Just why? You have a lead and got a rebound. Work the clock and get a good shot. Nope, just keep chucking. Pop would have called a timeout and screamed at them.

Again, this is the youngest team ever in any sport to be playing for a ring. For perspective, SA is the youngest team by adjusted minutes to make it to the Finals by over two full years and if they won would be the youngest by nearly 4.

Watch the play again.

It made sense to have Wemby out on Brunson because he didn't have time to drive or get a good look. Wemby there keeps the shot from being clean without possibly fouling because of his length. They didn't have time for passes or drives really, because teams generally don't want to shoot at 0.1, they want to shoot with enough time for a tip for this reason.

The problem was that Fox only half heartedly doubled and he didn't clear his man, which was OG. Fox didnt' put pressure on brunson but also didn't check his man - OG.

Failing to dribble out was on Fox. Then Fox ****ed up the last defensive play and rebound.

How is wemby as the biggest guy in the court standing there flat footed 8 feet from the basket just watching the rebound and tip in? This is as much on him as Fox. Make your two FT and give some effort down the stretch.
how is that ball not thrown to the top corner of the back board with Wemby on the low block jumping to grab and dunk?

I'm talking about the tip in for the Knicks. Go watch the replay. Wemby just watches the shot and stands there watching everyone try to rebound. If he makes any sort of effort to also rebound that tip in doesn't happen. He quit.

Nope. Our Mensa coach had Wemby run to double Brunson and left OG with a free lane to rim. ****inh stupid.

You live with him making a miracle three. If he's gonna hit that he's hitting it over Wemby too.

This is a really dumb take. Not as dumb as the dude comparing the spurs to the Aggies, but… dumb.

Bro, it doesn't take 10 years in the NBA to know you don't just keep chucking up threes early in the shot clock with a huge lead. The ONLY way you lose the game is by giving them numerous possessions, and wasting all of yours. That's high school basketball level IQ needed to understand that.

Fox is the equivalent of eating a bag of churros. 100% empty calories. He needs to be traded this off-season for absolutely anyone else in the league to get off of this albatross of a contact.

Completely inexcusable for your max veteran. He literally choked away a championship.

This is like LeBron getting smoked on his first finals… by a veteran spurs team.

Just sucks to get this far before the youthful collapse.
