This clown will show up before he misses a game check, grab a muscle in pain a la Leonard and spend the season in Vegas waiting for a trade. Book it.
This seems almost inevitable at this point. I understand James wants out but he didn't need to act like ***** in the process.Marvin said:

Some of us were right there with you. It was clear at least 5 years ago that Harden would never be able to win it all. Most here were content with being an also-ran and having a superstar. Having a superstar, we were told, was better than not having one.. and in no way do you give one up.. draft picks never become super stars.Harry Dunne said:

I took a lot of heat here in the past saying many times over the years that any Harden-led team would never win a title. Granted I was almost wrong, but I consider that a CP3-led team anyhow.
A lot of you have given him the benefit of the doubt because he's such a talented player, but all of the evidence pointed towards him being an entitled party boy from day 1. It sucks to have spent so much and given up so much building around him, but it was the proverbial house built on sand.
I'm happy to move on from him - the sooner the better. I would say it was fun while it lasted, but I always had a hard time getting behind him and am truly more excited for the start of something new than I would have been to have however many years of Harden keeping us competitive but not having the commitment to do what it takes when it counts.

We likely wouldn't have done any better having traded Harden.. but we could have built a foundation of talent to bring a superstar to.. instead of joining #3 types with a toxic culture led by a tissue soft party boy.
I've read plenty of negative comments about Harden from all sorts of Rockets fans. To pretend like everyone was sipping his bathwater for the last few years isn't 100% accurate. There are plenty of posters that have repeatedly ripped James...I've even played goalie for Harden against these individuals. I honestly still think Harden is a championship quality player...he just can't be the best player on a team.Guitarsoup said:mazag08 said:Some of us were right there with you. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills reading these posts from Rockets fans

Am I wrong? He clearly doesn't do any prep for his pods, makes over the top reactionary takes, and has completely lost interest in hearing anyone elses perspective.
And if you're a Rockets fan, his constant mocking of "Houston guy" is radio hack performance 101.
I enjoy the sports environment he's cultivated (Russillo, Verno, KOC, Tjarks, etc) and will listen when he has guests or topics i enjoy. Plus I'm a hoops head. It'd be easier to list the NBA pods I don't listen to than the ones i do. But listening to Simmons and having a negative opinion on him should bolster the criticism, not invalidate it.ATM9000 said:M.C. Swag said:ATM9000 said:M.C. Swag said:

This is a Rockets thread so I'll stop after this, but the sheer fact that you seem to know about a 'Houston guy' that he mocks constantly means you listen to his podcast arguably more than and closer than I do since I really don't recall that being a big thing such as his Utah and Portland fan takes. Your other criticisms seems to reinforce that you listen to it on the reg.
It's either that, and you actually do enjoy his pod which makes your take on it disingenuous or you openly waste your time listening to *****
Met Simmons at baggage claim in San Antonio (we were on the same flight from LA) in 2013 before the Grizz/Spurs WCF. He was a really nice guy. Talked some BoB and got his WCF prediction (he picked Memphis). I was pretty happy after the Spurs swept them ('In your face, Bill Simmons.'). Joke was on me with how the Finals unfolded I guess.Guitarsoup said:
I don't really like him, but will tune into his podcast while he is talking about a subject I want to hear about. Especially NBA off-season. I don't give two ****s about his takes on NFL and MLB.
When he wrote the Book of Basketball or Now I Can Die in Peace, he did a book tour and stopped at Borders at Westheimer and Kirby. I showed up in a borrowed Clemens Astros jersey and got him to sign the book in that. He thought it was less funny than I did.
I agree re: Pippen, and we saw this play out with Scottie later in his career. Granted he was past his prime by the time he came to Houston, but without MJ he turned from a all-time top 50 guy into Shawn Marion.AG@RICE said:

If James was Lebron James 2nd banana for his whole career he would have a Scottie Pippen like legacy....
Simlarly, if Scottie ever had to be a real star with out MJ, he would have been severely limited.
Honestly, only a handful of players in the league can claim to be title winners without the best player in the league. Over the last 15 years its basically Duncan, Lebron, Steph and Leonard. Everyone else road coattails. Swap James with Klay, KD, Bosh, or Siakam and he wins a title too. Maybe he just finally realized that very same fact...he can't be the best player on a championship level team...
GTFO. Pippen put up 22/9/6 with 2.9steals per game in 94. He led the Bulls to 55 wins and a 3 seed and took the EC Champ Knicks to 7 games, despite the big matchup problems. (Knicks had Ewing/Oakley/Mase and Charles Smith to the Bulls' Grant/Cartwright/Longley down low.)Quote:
