Lol. He will always play in the east. Going to Philly.

Why will he always play in the east?

I'm not saying he won't go to Philly but that won't make them for sure even the favorites in east next year. Him being on Rockets would put us arguably over GS.

Lots of overlap on what him and Simmons do well, and Philly is so young. Rockets make just as much sense as anyone, just would have to make the money work.

I bet this series lit a fuel under Morey. That dude had to be a little mad.

It is way easier for him to get to the finals through the east.

It is way easier for him to get SWEPT in the Finals through the East. If he wants to win, he needs to go to the best team/ style, regardless of conference affiliation.

He could go to the Sixers...it would be a cake walk to the finals and he wouldn't get swept

And even if he went to the Rockets he still doesn't beat GS

Celtics with Gordon & Kyrie May have something to say about that..

Better chance to WIN finals would be HOU - better chance to get to finals could be 76ers.

Without LeBron we were up 3-2 when Chris was healthy. Why wouldn't we beat golden state if he joins?

LeBron has admitted that he is consumed by chasing the "ghost in Chicago." He is going to go where he can win a couple more championships. I think that leaves him 3 options:
Philly
Houston
Going with CP3 to a team that is already decent

This last one. I am very skeptical CP3 is in Houston next year. Say him and LeBron go somewhere they can build a team around themselves, it's very appealing to both. CP3 has now done everything but go to an NBA final and win an NBA final. Moving to the East with LeBron makes that very probable, whereas he'll have to go through the Warriors again in the West.

What about Paul George, Lebron James, and ____ to the Lakers? Does that make a difficult matchup for the Warriors? Would they put up with LaVar Ball?

I don't see LeBron staying in Cleveland. The East is about to belong to the Celtics barring injuries. Philly is on the rise too but I just don't see him meshing well with that team unless the teams make a trade to swap some players around and Cleveland won't do much to help an Eastern Conference team get LeBron.

It is a biased take, but I love his fit in Houston. Specifically for his legacy. He would finally prove he can play in the Western Conference, and be a part of a team built to take down the evil empire (Warriors). You don't get cupcakes in rounds 1 and 2. Plus the system is perfect for his game. Drive/iso when it makes sense, shoot 3's, penetrate and kick out to wide open shooters.

Outside of that the only other option I could see for him would be to join up with other guys to go to a team that has the cap space to accommodate the buddies he wants to play with. I do think he will sit down and pick the option that will be best for his legacy and chance to win more titles.

You have to go through the Warriors one way or another and Marc Stein reported that CP3 is recruiting him to Houston specifically.

You can't escape the Warriors, no, but you can delay seeing them until and NBA finals and add "NBA Finals" to your resume. Not saying it won't happen that LeBron comes to Houston, but there's a lot that has to happen in Houston to make this possible from a financial perspective. It's a lot easier if Paul walks and joins LeBron somewhere in the east, which is my thought.

I don't see Paul walking. His best chance to win a championship, short of joining the Warriors, is to stay in Houston and that's regardless of whether LeBron comes here or not.

The best chance for LeBron coming here is if Chris Paul takes a pay cut to get him here.

Even that's not enough. Capela will have to walk too. Houston can't pay Lebron, CP3, Harden, Ryen Anderson, and Capela

I think CP3 and his group have already privately agreed to an extension with Morey. It's the reason why he opted into his player option last year. Also this season went so well that there's literally no reason for him to leave. Even life in Houston is good.

Not sure how everyone else feels here, but I would skip on matching a Capela offer if it meant getting LeBron. Would do it 11 out of 10 times.

Lebron in Houston would probably look something like this by the playoffs.

Starting 5 :
Chris Paul
James Harden
Trevor Ariza
Lebron James
Insert minimum contract big guy here

Bench :
Eric Gordon
PJ Tucker
Kyle Korver type veteran shooter that follows Lebron

Against the Warriors, the big guy comes out/ Gordon and Tucker eat up more minutes

Steph / Paul
Klay / Harden
Iguodala / Tucker (or Gordon)
Durant/ Ariza
Draymond / Lebron

As said earlier, either way you are playing the Warriors to get to the finals or in the finals. At least in the West if he would be able to play to keep them out of the Finals and keep them from more titles. This would help keep Curry/Durant/Thompson with a lower title count over the next couple of years.

I think we'd have to trade one of Ariza/Gordon/Tucker to make the money work. Or might have to pair one of those with Anderson in order for someone to take Anderson.

I'd imagine if Lebron came in the fold Gordon and Capela would be gone and they probably waive Anderson and stretch his money.

Probably have to get rid of Capela and Gordon to get LeBron.

A Houston team with harden, Paul, and LeBron would probably be no better than the LeBron, Kyrie, Love team That lost 4-1 to Warriors last year, and it would be an OLDER team with LeBron and Paul both hitting 34 years old with lots of miles. But it would certainly be pretty interesting to follow.

the East is probably going to be a tougher conference next season with some younger teams loaded with talent like Celtics, Sixers, maybe Bucks.

That's the only way CP stays here

With his injury woes there's no way I'd be comfortable signing him to a max deal (and I assume some team will offer him one). Yes he's a key piece and the team takes a big hit if they don't sign him, but if he's not there to play his value is zero.

Needs to have a serious come to Jesus discussion with DM and realize he's at the tail end of his career and if this is where he wants to play it's gonna be less than what he's being offered elsewhere.

I highly doubt we let Capela go. The most reasonable situation to get Lebron to Houston is the same way we got CP3. Lebron opts into his last year, we trade Anderson+Gordon+fillers. Pretty terrible deal for Cleveland though.
