So don't turn the TV back on when we're making another deep playoff run next year

the Rockets played really hard in the series, but in the end this was about Golden State.

when the Warriors got serious about playing basketball (and felt the threat of elimination), they blew Houston out of the gym.

Golden State is an all-time great team. The rest of the West just has to wait until the team breaks up. This has been the situation many times throughout the history of the NBA
Game 6 was an impressive game on their part, but Game 7 had little to do with them tightening up on defense. The Rockets absolutely controlled their own destiny, they just missed far too many uncontested 3 pointers in the 2nd half.

Y'all can continue to whine and mope around. I'm optimistic as hell about this team, depending on what happens in the offseason with Ariza/Capela/Paul. But I trust Daryl Morey to put together ANOTHER competitive team next year that puts us right back in a position to succeed

Who cares. There is no prize for being the first to call ballgame.

I think he's just saying he's glad he saved himself more heartbreak. Don't think he was bragging about calling ballgame first.

You might be right. Just don't recall seeing that guy around here before.

If LeBron wants to come here, do y'all think Cleveland accepts Anderson + Gordon plus 2 firsts?

I think Gordon did a lot in the WCF to increase his value. Problem is I don't think he moves the needle enough to hide Ryan making 20.4mill and 21.2mill over the next two years. The picks help a little bit but sending LeBron over ensures they will likely be very late picks. I could see Cleveland being more willing to trade him out West to facilitate an opt-in deal. Basically say you either decline your player option and test free agency or opt in and we will trade you to the Rockets.

Oh well. Back to the Astros, and shortly later, the Aggies. Not holding out any hope for that other Houston team this year.

Maybe we could trade Anderson and a pick to an east team and take back a regular bad deal (Anderson and pick for miles plumlee).

Quote:

Houston built a winner with a never-ending barrage of long-range attempts. But its NBA Finals dreams were dashed because of one of the worst cold stretches from deep in league history.

Quote:

Monday night, the Houston Rockets missed 27 3-pointers in a row in Game 7 of the Western Conference finals. Houston's 11-point halftime lead vanished as the team went 0-for-14 from 3 in the third quarter. The Rockets eventually lost 101-92 to a Warriors team that didn't suddenly forget how to shoot.

Quote:

It's not quite clear whether what the Rockets did set an all-time recordthe Elias Sports Bureau said that the 27 consecutive misses were an NBA postseason record, although it didn't specify whether any team had ever missed more 3s in a row during a regular-season game. It seems unlikely, though, that another team could top Houston's performance. Most games in the history of the league haven't had 27 3-point attempts, let alone 27 3-point misses, let alone all of them happening in a row. What we do know is that by shooting 7-for-44 from 3, the Rockets set a new record for most misses in a playoff game, and it was the worst 3-point-shooting game they had all season. The team hadn't shot below 20 percent before Monday night's 15.9 percent.

If I'm Cleveland, I'd rather let him walk and tank for draft picks than take Gordon plus Anderson (assuming Cleveland hasn't already traded away their 2019-2020 picks).

Looks like the Cavs' first rounder in 2019 and 2020 is Top 10 protected. If the Cavs are outside of the Top 10 either next year or in 2020, the pick will go to the Hawks. If the Cavs finish with a Top 10 pick in both of the next two seasons, the pick will convey into second round picks in 2021 and 2022.

I know Anderson's contract is absolutely awful but if I am Morey I would be working the phones like crazy over the next few months and do what I can to trade him. Might be a fool's errand but you have to do it.

No matter how many times Ive read that salary breakdown over the years, it still shocks and angers me.

The Warriors were 24-3 in the playoffs since signing Durant prior to that series, so the Rockets taking them to 7 games is nothing to be ashamed of. And we could have won the series without some historically bad shooting.

If Golden State crushes Cleveland again, it will make the Lebron saga even more interesting. I doubt Lebron is content making it to the Finals just to get crushed by Golden State, so he'll probably be looking to team up with multiple superstars again. Where that happens to be, who knows, but Houston seems like it'd be a top contender. And Lebron can force his way here if he really wants to. I don't know how you convince a team to take Anderson's contract though.

Obviously we need more bench depth yet again. Luc was supposed to be a key contributor but was unplayable in the playoffs for one reason or another. With an older roster, we really need at least 9 guys to cover for the inevitable injuries.

I am (was?) an Anderson fan. If he could give us offensively what he did last year and what he was doing in NO then he'd be about worth what he's getting paid. 15-5 while shooting around 40% from 3 only playing 25-30 min. That's be a great in our offense, but he's no longer efficient shooting and constantly gets beat defensively vs teams that look to exploit him. His only value now is as an expiring contract and that won't likely kick in until next year because he's got 2 years left. I don't see how DM moves him, but we need him gone in order add a big piece and keep our guys.

I am torn on who to root for in the finals. On the one hand I know the Lebron's getting blown out means a better chance of us getting him, on the other I would like to see the Warriors lose in the Finals again to be a black mark on their legacy.

My disgust for the Warriors can't be overstated at this moment.

tired legs had to be a big part of it.

If you take a team that leads the league in three point attempts by a fair margin, put them on a 6/7 man rotation, expect them to play suffocating defense, it's going to be tough sledding when those shots don't fall for extended periods.

We threw up some dumb shots, but most of the ones we missed were decent looks. Did they forget how to shoot 3's...or were they exhausted?
Same ****, different year. MDA tightened up to 7 players in the Semi's last year and by the end of the series, we couldn't hit a shot.

I believe you want the Warriors to blow out the Cavs in 4 games. Make it a boring series with minimal drama.

D'Antoni has a history of running his teams ragged by limiting his playoff rotations. It's a valid criticism.

I don't think the Rockets horrible shooting night just occurred in a vacuum, so you shouldn't write it off as some statistical anomaly. I think significant contributing factors were tired legs and an unclutch superstar in Harden.

I hope the cavs get owned in 4 games by 30 points each. Hopefully then they can get rid of conferences. Our series deserved to be the NBA finals.

Statistically it will go down as missing 27 in a row. But Harden actually made a 3 in the 3rd quarter and was fouled during the shot. But the ref called off the basket and said it was a foul on the floor which was the incorrect call.

Idk if we can get Paul George because we'd have to convince OKC to sign+trade like we did with CP3 and LAC. OKC is trying to compete with us and GS rather than making us even better than before.

Recruiting LeBron is kind of like shooting 3s in Game 7 of the Western Conference finalseven if you can create the space, that doesn't mean the shot's going to go in. But if you're on LeBron's list of potential destinations (which the Rockets reportedly are, along with the Lakers, Sixers, and Cavaliers), you have to try.
