Oh I always want to to win. I just don't see what we can do to make this team into an actual contender, so I know it's technically better to get a higher draft pick.

Who knows if Curry ever comes back. We just need to trade rape someone this year

Any win over Westbrook is a good win

I think we now know the rotation for the season, sans Curry

BTW, apparently Curry's timetable has been moved back to late Dec, if not Jan 1

We're blowing out the Clippers, and Noel's still not in. I know he had a "sore thumb" or something, but is that actually the reason he's still not getting any minutes? I want the Noel/Carlisle feud to end and him get some minutes.

The whole situation is best summed up with what happened at halftime today, which we could just refer to as the "hot dog situation":

Haha that's actually hilarious. I still have no clue why he's not playing

Saw the interview where they asked him about the hotdog. Coach chimed in saying Wild about Harry's should sponsor a dog called "The Nerlens"

If there's one thing Nerlens does well, it's give canned media answers to deflect any further controversy: https://thesmokingcuban.com/2017/12/03/nerlens-noel-on-his-playing-time-future-in-dallas-message-to-fans/

First of the Dirk 20-year bobblehead giveaways tonight!

Mavs are 5-4 in the last 9. Mavs would draft 3rd if the season ended today however they are only 2 away in the win column from getting all the way to 11th. All signs point to Mavs pointlessly playing themselves out of a top 5 pick.

I'm not really sure what they can do either. I would love to dump JJB and Harris, they are combined averaging 21 points per game on 40 minutes. The Mavs do not need those two guys (who I like, but won't be on the roster in 2 seasons) to push them out of DeAndre Ayon/Marvin Bagley ping-pong balls. Very frustrating. Although I was similarly frustrated last year when they dropped down to the 9th pick. Somehow they got Smith Jr. who was (and is) a top 5 pick in my estimation. Maybe they will get lucky again, I just don't think relying on luck is a great strategy.

I'd be fine getting rid of JJ and Devon, even though I love both of them. But Carlisle could also just choose not to play them as much as he does. Give more crunch time minutes to Smith, which will help him develop and cause us to lose games. Win/Win. Or sign some other young guard to give some minutes to.

We have an extremely tough stretch coming up, so hopefully we lost 6 of 7 or so.

Yeah, should've lost that game, but I love spoiling Kawhi's season debut. Nice seeing Spurs fans leave the arena dejected

Yea I never mind beating the Spurs.

I don't mind tanking for the number 1 pick if we can beat the Spurs and Rockets a couple times. Crazy, we're only 5.5 games out of the 8th seed.

This.

(in before spurs and rockets fans pull titles and last place on us. Yes, we know we suck. 2011 is still the most impressive NBA title to be won in the history of the game.)

I don't think he'd do it simply for the record, but it'd be nice to know such a record will last for quite a while

Amazing stat in Lowe's recent ESPN article that indicates a lineup of dirk, Farrell, Harris, Powell, and Barea have the highest point differential in the league for the 104 lineups with a minimum of 100 minutes together. Crazy. Tells me Carlisle really is a wizard.
This whole team plays its heart out, and it's still a lot of fun (for me) to watch. None of us are going to say the Mavs are a good team, but they play hard and make it entertaining. Losing is just icing on the cake for the hopefully big (pun intended) draft pick this summer. Case in point- the Spurs game last night

How often do the Mavericks play the Pistons? Couldn't watch the game, but watched highlights. Looked like DSJ dominated Reggie Jackson the whole game, burning him multiple times. Great that he's back in the lineup.

Twice a year, like every East team. He did look great in his comeback. Then followed it up with a mediocre showing against the Heat.

Not a good game for watching against a completely decimated Heat team. But the tank stays alive

Two losses to the Hawks this season- will very much help in the long run at the end of the season for those ping pong balls!

Man, this team knows how to tank in a most entertaining fashion. Sometimes it results in a win like tonight over the Raptors

I'm fully bought in to Maxi Kleber. He's a bit more consistent than Dwight Powell at a HUGE fraction of the price. And I love my Dwight

I have to disagree. I hate this team. After a 3 game winning streak they are now tied for the 4th fewest wins. One win away from tying for the 7th fewest wins. Two more wins away from 10th.

The worst thing is checking the box score and seeing JJB and Harris have big games in a win. I like those guys but they will be out if the league in 4 years while whoever the Mavs pick will be coming into their prime. I want that player to be DeAndre Ayton and not Robert Williams.

Totally get it- a three game win streak is a problem.

And I agree on Ayton- he's my number one target for the draft

DSJ with his first triple-double though...

Spurs fan here, but I just wanted to say that Dennis Smith Jr. is a stud. I just saw him take over at the end of the Thunder game to secure the win. Gotta love seeing the Thunder lose.

The way this team is playing, they better be careful. Otherwise they may get the 9 seed.

Hated missing the game last night, but I think I would've lost my mind at all the screaming little kids when Curry hit the game-winning shot.

No clue what dirk was doing on them at last curry shot. Why not hedge as far as possible and just let him blow by and hope your help defense can force him into a tough shot. Dirk just let him ease into a wide open 3.

Derek Harper jersey retirement tomorrow night. Only the third jersey to ever be retired by the Mavs. I'm fairly certain this is the first jersey retired since Cuban bought the team

That's good. Jersey retirements should be special, and rare.

That said, can't wait for Shawn Bradley night.

I'm waiting for Walter Bond night.
