21 to 10 on free throws, at home. **** the NBA and the horse they rode in on. Dictated *****

Laugh all you want, but this game is heavily favored for certain teams. The refs can't blantly win it for a team, but they can dictate and move the needle. Yes, I missed the last two free throws right at my post and misread the stat line, but my point still stands -- they've shot more FT's than us -- and we're at home. The stat line doesn't even tell the true picture of how the game has been called, either.
Uncompetitive sweeps are bad of the NBA.

Competitive 7-game series are good for the NBA.

A cinderella story of nobody scrubs like Patty Mills, Danny Green and Jon Simmons taking on and beating the multiple all-stars of the Warriors is a much better story line and much more interesting than "Hey look, 4 guys that deserve max contracts teamed up and won 12-straight games in the playoffs."

Patty Mills is such an excellent back-up point guard.

Just like Speedy Claxton was.

I don't want Patty back after this series. He can't be our starting pg.

Give me Murray and an offseason

The Cavs will smoke these clowns, again.

Mills needs to go if he wants more than a few million. He isn't a starting PG on a high end team. Simmons is worth a bit more probably 6-8 million. He is older and his 3 pt shot is never going to be amazing. You can't overpay for him.

The only players that absolutely should be back are Kawhi, Bertrans, Murray and Manu (for Vet min). Everyone else should be on the trade block or potentially not resigned depending on how much they are wanting or who you can get for them. You have to move at least one of LMA or Gasol.

What stinks is I think with a full strength team going big would have given the Warriors some troubles, but I'm definitely not confident in bringing back the same group to find out for sure.

Announce that Kawhi is out for the year tomorrow

Sit gasol, Aldridge, and Ginobli for game 4.

Eff you Zaza for ruining what looked like was going to be a pretty good series. We would've taken game 1 if Kawhi stayed in and I bet we would've at least split at home. I can't imagine this series being any worse than 2-2 if Kawhi didn't get hurt.

I hope the Cavs dominate these turds.

I think you gotta make a good effort to retain Simmons as well for a little continuity. Someone that can roll with the 1st or 2nd unit.

the fact that LMA is the highest paid player this year on the spurs is robbery

Who would have thought that Manu's 14 million was one of the best bargains on the team.

The number one priority this offseason should be Simmons. To be honest I'd rather have a cheap veteran POINT guard than Patty Mills. I know these have been extraordinary circumstances, but he just underperformed this entire post season when it was his opportunity to show his stuff and play for a large contract next season. I think we have to move on.

If Patty is fine with getting some more money and running our second unit, you bring him back. He's a solid backup PG. But if he wants to start, you let him walk.

I know a lot of LA sucking is LA sucking, but I also think it's Patty's complete and total inability to run a pick and roll or really any semblance of our offense for the starting unit against the Warriors. LA was frustrating against Memphis when Tony was in too, so I know a lot is on him, but Patty has been god awful this series.

We need to keep Simmons though, especially if Manu retires. We need some slashing and energy on our second unit, and Simmons definitely has that.

patty has been subpar but i feel he doesn't deserve all this hate, he is a solid/good role player. i think he was always meant to be a pg version of manu who would come off the bench and spark the offense. Never meant to be a starting point guard and court general.

"Spectacular" performance.

Code for Let's make sure the other team has no superstars so we can fellate our self worth.

Simmons would definitely be my top priority as far as retaining current players goes, but if the price gets close to $10 million you either have to let him walk or you need to trade Green and start Simmons. I worry his 3 pt shot might not be good enough for a starting 2 guard.

Wishful thinking. Nobody is paying him $15 million. Unless he decides he wants to chase a ring with the Cavs or GSW for the vet minimum.
Grapesoda2525

He's back. He already has rings. I doubt he's that hungry for another one to take vets minimum.

Lost in the LMA, Gasol, Mills no show is good old Danny Green. For some reason he always gets a pass and nobody expects much more than his occasional good offensive game. He is a starting 2 guard who gets paid $10 million per season and he absolutely can't create his own shot.

Our top 4 highest paid players not hurt tonight are LMA, Gasol, Manu and Green (and all but Manu were supposed to be starters). Only Manu showed up tonight. His awesome defense also isnt so awesome without Kawhi and Duncan.

Sadly, $10m for a starting 2 is a steal these days.

It's a solid deal, but hardly amazing. He still can't create his own shot. He is a bottom half of the league 2 guard. My point is simply that we have a ton of money tied up in 4 players that are either broken or that look a hell of a lot better than they really are due to Kawhi (Parker, LMA, Gasol and Green).

Basically we should be willing to upgrade all 4 starter positions not named Kawhi if the opportunity presents itself. I'm not even so sure you don't sign and start Simmons and trade Green.

I agree but barring a fire sale i think we are stuck.

Also...

Obi Wan Ginobili
How long do you want to ignore this user?
He's an above average 3 point shooter, and he's one of the best defensive wings in the league. Otto Porter is about to get 20 mil per season for doing the same **** on a team that isn't as good.

Green is not the problem.

I don't know. I like Danny Green but he is what he
Is...and that is much different when Kawhi is on the court with him.

Doesn't seem like you can do much else other than build a super team.

It sucks for the NBA and the fans.

He never has been and never will be able to create his own shot. He's not that type of player. He's a glue guy. The only reason he is in this league is because he can play very good defense and stretch the other defense with his 3-point shooting (although this has been inconsistent in the last two years). But when our best player is out, it makes it hard for him to do either of those things well. I still think $10 million for him is a good deal, and I don't think we could get that value back in return, unless we get a hell of a draft pick.

Only bright side of this series is that I can guarantee Kawhi works his ass off this summer and increases his game even more next year.

Dude has to be pissed.

Generally impressed with the fight of some of the Spurs tonight for hanging kind of in there despite no Parker, Kawhi, or even Lee. They showed much more grit than Boston who just flat quit against the Cavs. Definitely Spurs showed up to play tonight.

Except for Aldridge,...LMA is stealing money from Spurs. Except for first half of game 1, His play has ranged from ordinary to flat out bad. JaVale McGhee looked more like an All Star out there than Aldridge.

My point is simply that Green is limited and not irreplaceable. I think Simmons will likely get an offer pushing $10 million. If I'm the Spurs I give strong consideration to signing Simmons as Greens replacement. I also don't think that position should be considered wrapped up or off limits this offseason. If we had a starting two guard that could dribble it would give us some options with Patty/Murray and likely help our bigs too.

Blame the players' union and the CBA for creating a max salary that allows teams to have 4 all-stars and 2 league MVPs.
