On defense, TP gets high on one shoulder of the ball handler not to stop him but to make him predictable for the help. All of our guards do that, he's just more obvious about. Pau and Dedmon are still a bit slow recognizing that and getting in position. They also aren't quite there on using their length to neutralize areas of the court. That tends to pin them to the weak side sticking with their man with the lane open.
Last, the team as a whole is still rotating with the ball instead of with the previous rotation. For example, player A is defending player X. Player A rotates off. Player B should see that and rotate to replace him immediately, but that second rotation doesn't happen until the ball is already on the way. Kyle Anderson is the worst offender. He does understand controlling space, but he's playing guards with Green out right now so when he sags in the offense just kicks it around the perimeter to the shooter and he's too slow to recover. He really needs to play as a switching 3/4 where his instincts work better.
All of that is fixable. Leonard/Green/Simmons make up a ferocious, versatile defensive trio. Gasol is smart enough to backstop those monsters once he's in sync, Aldridge gets it, and Dedmon is getting there. Just early season work in progress with lots of new guys.
