I agree. At least for a couple years, there were few who could match him on perimeter D other than guys like Bowen.

Right. The elite defenders could match him out on the perimeter. He was in the tier just below elite.

Marion at his peak was very good defensively. He wasn't in the same league as Kawhi, Bowen, Artest, etc. That's a big reason why he never made a single All-Defense team in his entire career.

Right. The elite defenders could match him out on the perimeter. He was in the tier just below elite.

Marion at his peak was very good defensively. He wasn't in the same league as Kawhi, Bowen, Artest, etc. That's a big reason why he never made a single All-Defense team in his entire career.
Wasn't implying he was as good as Kawhi, just that Kawhi reminded me of a better version of him.

those were also the days where everyone on those teams were only allowed to make it for their single position. He was a SF, which was loaded with great defenders.

When should he have made it and who should he have made it over? You had Garnett/Bowen/Artest/Battier at F most of his career.


I still think the biggest traveshamockery in NBA awards is that Duncan never won DPOY.
