Marion was a good defensive player, but he was never an elite defender.

I agree. At least for a couple years, there were few who could match him on perimeter D other than guys like Bowen.

Marion at his peak was very good defensively. He wasn't in the same league as Kawhi, Bowen, Artest, etc. That's a big reason why he never made a single All-Defense team in his entire career.
quote:those were also the days where everyone on those teams were only allowed to make it for their single position. He was a SF, which was loaded with great defenders.
The fact that Shawn Marion never made a single All-Defensive Team is a travesty.

The inclusion of Davis, who appeared in 61 games as the anchor of the league's third-worst defense, is odd in its own right, but his final selection raised the most suspicion.
For the second season in a row, Worrell was the only voter to list Ariza on his ballot.
But according to the voice of the Rockets, Leonard's exclusion was born of blunder, not fanaticism.
"I had (Leonard) number one, but apparently it was left off," Worrell said via email.
By the time he supposedly realized his miscue, it was too late the vote was in.
"I just made a mistake," Worrell said,"I think he's one of top ten players in the league."
