What a joke.
quote:That's it precisely. He's the greatest player from a nation that loves basketball in part because of him. He made 5 All-NBA teams (highest 2nd, twice), 3x FIBA Asia champion, Chinese league MVP and that's about it.
What did he do in his career to really stand out as a HOFer besides be a huge ambassador for China?
quote:19/9 guy. :p
He was a career 20/10 guy, so it's not like he was one of the worst draft picks in the history of the sport by any means.
quote:I always round up if it makes my guys look better
19/9 guy. :p
quote:
this is a joke. He's in the all-time top 10 for #1 overall draft busts.
he was an average player and never won anything of significance

quote:All centers. All.
Yao had more offensive game than most centers in the league today.

quote:Come on man. Over his 7 season career (I'm not going to count his 5 game final season), Yao played 486 games for an average of about 70 games/season. He averaged 19/9.2 per game over that time frame. Sure you can look at his career and conclude that he didn't maximize his potential, but 7 seasons basically as a 20&10 guy isn't even close to a draft bust, much less one of the top draft busts of all time. If you want to see what a REAL draft bust looks like, look at Anthony Bennett (128 games over 3 seasons, averaged 4.2/3.1), Hasheem Thabeet (224 games over 5 seasons, averaged 2.2/2.7), or a bunch of the Kings' first round draft picks over the last 10 years (Thomas Robinson, Bismarck Biyombo, Quincy Douby, Jimmer Fredette).
this is a joke. He's in the all-time top 10 for #1 overall draft busts.
quote:He put up 27/12 with 3.3 assists and hit 34% of his threes. Boogie is good. Think what he could do with a good coach.
I'm biased, but I would take a healthy Yao over DeMarcus
quote:At the end of his career people will be talking about how he just couldn't ever find the right situation. It is because he is a locker room cancer and a coach killer, not his unfortunate circumstances.quote:He put up 27/12 with 3.3 assists and hit 34% of his threes. Boogie is good. quote:We could very easily apply the same statement to Dwight. A few more weeks and he is likely to be someone elses problem.quote:quote:At the end of his career people will be talking about how he just couldn't ever find the right situation. Are we talking about Dwight Howard now?
That may be true, but Boogie is a very good offensive player.

you folks that are offended that Yao is being inducted obviously don't understand how the Basketball HOF works
