I was looking at the scoring list today and was surprised to see Vince Carter at 25. He's 150 points away from Charles Barkley. I remember he was the next big superstar while in Toronto until he got hurt. I had a Vince Carter rookie card worth $150 I slept with. It's now like $5. After Toronto he has a couple decent years followed by a lot of productive years but nothing special.

Bball reference seems to think he's a lock. They have him at 94% probability, right above Tony Parker.

Personally, I don't see how you put him above Parker and Ginobili. I may be biased, but the GS's post says it all.

Parker:
3x All-NBA 2nd Team
1x All-NBA 3rd Team
4x Top 10 in MVP (5th, 6th, 8th, 9th)
4x Titles
1x Finals MVP

Manu:
1x All-NBA 2nd Team
2x All-NBA 3rd Team
1x Sixth Man of the Year
2x Top 10 in MVP (8th, 10th)
4x Titles
4x 3rd in the league in +/-

It is the basketball HOF, so both Parker and Ginobili are locks because you have to consider their international ball experience, too.

Vince does have an Olympic gold from Sydney and played on the 03 FIBA team that won the Americas.

Carter having only 2 All NBA years is a travesty. The guy was always loved by fans more than writers. You also fail to mention his All Star appearances. I think he's a definite Hall of Famer. I'd put him above Iverson.

No way. Iverson had 4 scoring titles and 3 steals titles plus an MVP. I wouldn't want either player, but Iverson has unquestionably the better resume.

All I'm saying is if I'm voting Carter is above AI. They are both unquestionably HOFers.

To me, Iverson is in and Carter is borderline. More style than substance.

Then again, if they are going to put Mitch Richmond in, you have to put in Carter.

Vince didn't play for the Spurs. We get it.

He definitely has killed the Spurs over the years. I remember him torching Bowen in Toronto and who can forget his playoff performance for Dallas two years ago.

Vince did a great job of somewhat reinventing his game as he lost a bit of his athleticism. He has stayed very productive throughout the course of his career.

I think he's this generations Dominique Wilkins. 'Nique was a little bit better player, but Vinsanity was even more explosive than the Human Highlight Reel. Neither one did much in the playoffs, but neither one had much help either. I vote yes.

I'd agree with that. Just to compare them....

Vince had 3 seasons above 25ppg with a high of 27. Dominique had 10 straight seasons over 25 with a high over 30 twice. Vince also never topped 6rpg, while Nique was over 6 for 11 straight seasons with a high of 9. Vince was a much better passer, though.

Same idea, but Nique was better and he played in the era of more physical defense, hand checking, etc.

Dominque played for the Spurs in that horrible '96-'97 season that got them the lottery pick, so he helped the Spurs get five championships.

That was a great team, some of the best tanking I've seen since my Rockets tanked to get Hakeem.

Dominique also had some international recognition which carries some weight with the Basketball Hall of Fame (and really should carry a lot of weight with Manu).

Dominique had Euroleague and Greek titles and awards. Also more All-NBA recognitions as well than VC.
Also a scoring champion and if you want to go to dunks, he won more dunk titles than VC.

Also Allen Iverson is a sure Hall of Famer. VC is borderline with a strong chance to get in.

Deserves to be in the HOF based on that Frederic Weis dunk and the 2000 Dunk Contest alone.
