With Parsons coming off the bench, that second unit may be the most fragile group of guys ever assembled.

I'm not sure how many wins will be needed to get into the WC playoffs, but Grizzlies take down Pelicans in game 1.

3 notes/predictions on Pelicans:
1. They aren't a playoff team this year again, although they will give a lot of teams problems when Cousins is engaged. As of now, he is the team's best 3 point shooter, but the team lacks shooters and depth.

2. Alvin Gentry won't be the coach of the Pelicans next season, and I'm not sure he lasts this season.

3. Cousins picked up technical #1 last night, and I don't know who gets more leeway than that guy.

Grizz played well.
Warriors go 1-2 vs the Southwest to start the season and melt down.

And Steph still gets the kickout the leg on the 3 point shot call.
And the refs allow Draymond to complain more than anyone in the league

In the Fizdale era, the Grizzlies have a better record when they are the underdog by 5 or more points then when they are favored by 5 or more points.

To this extent this year....
Against teams that were in the playoffs last year (4-0): Wins over Warriors, Rockets (2), Clippers

Against teams that did not make the playoffs last year (2-4): Losses against Magic, Lakers, Hornets, Mavs...1 win against Mavs & Pelicans

He's not coming back for a long time, and if he does, he will get hurt again.

I'm interested to see if the Grizz don't consider blowing things up. If Conley starts missing games again, he and Gasol could bring back some huge returns.

Gasol is only 32 (same age as Aldridge), and he's easily a top 3 center in the game right now. To top that off, he's only making 22-23 million a year, and he has two years guaranteed on his contract, so he wouldn't be a half year rental.

Conley is overpaid for how many games the guy has missed, but when he isn't hurt, he's an incredible player.

Memphis will be a playoff team if the two of them stay healthy, but they will be in the 6-8 range. This is their worst team in years, and without Tony Allen and Randolph coming off the bench, I just don't know what their plan is.

The writings been on the wall the last 3-5 years.

In my discussions on the Grizzlies boards where everyone wanted to blow things up since the Spurs swept the Grizzlies in Lionel Hollins last year, I've always felt that the end was going to come, there wasn't going to be an NBA title in the future, but you might as well enjoy the ride, even if it was a slow ride, because the collapse was imminent.

I don't mind that Pera pushed all his chips in on Parsons because it was a long shot play. It's not like if they hadn't paid Parsons, they would have gotten Durant or even Nicolus Batum.

It was a good run that started basically by trading Pau Gasol and building through cap space the trade created, because it sure as hell wasn't built through draft picks.

And that's the problem...the GM Chris Wallace doesn't draft well, and takes no leadership position within the team, which is fine, unless there is a conflict between player and coach, in which case Wallace is worthless.

I don't think in 7 years we are talking about the OKC Thunder replacing the Grizzlies in the Southwest Division. I think they will move if they go through a big rebuild and end up in Seattle.

The last time the Grizzlies won a home game, the World Series was still going on.

If the over/under on the combined games played as a Grizzlies in the 2019-20 season with Iggy, Avery Bradley, Chandler Parsons, or Kyle Korver is set at 11.5, I'll take the under.

All 4 combine for $62.5 mm on this year's payroll, and all are candidates to be waived or traded for peanuts.
