Taking a step back, I do like Dwight as a non-basketball person. It sucks he just HAS to be this way as a basketball player person.

Why does he need to discuss his opt out with teammates ? What a dumb non story. He's 30 years old, he can decide on his own
He doesn't need to. If I am choosing to leave a job (which I've done and in sure most of us have) then you tell your colleagues bye. After you sent so much time with a person you develop a relationship even if it's 100% business related.

While I'm not for or against Dwight leaving, I've met Dwight numerous times and I have nothing but great things to say about him. Last time I talked to him was at the Mavs game in January after the game and he spent a good amount of time with my dad, sister and I. The guy is a great person. If he leaves, I'll be rooting for him. His first two years in Houston were very good. It's unfortunate that it has come to this.
Thoughts on the season.
Cluster **** is what I would describe it as. So much turmoil and drama throughout the season and they never went on a run despite staying mostly healthy. I don't think Morey can be blamed for bringing back the same team that took them to the WCF and adding Lawson. We were all excited about Lawson when that happened. Took a gamble and it didn't work out. Luckily this was probably a good season to suck since the Warriors, Spurs and Cavs all look so good. Frustrating season to say the least.
Now, let's go get Durant.

I could get on board with that. We will have to see what KD's intentions are for any of this to work but that team would be a MAJOR upgrade.
Where ever Durant signs, I think he signs a LeBron contract - 1y with 1 option so he can cash in on a bigger payday next summer.

Also L O L at JB being a good NBA head coach. He screwed up all sorts of other stuff besides the Dwight and Harden relationship. Coaching criticism is always the thing that shows whether or not a media person has actually been watching closely or not.

If I'm SA, I indirectly encourage Duncan, Manu, and Parker to retire and then easily get KD.
I could seen Duncan and Manu retiring, but not Parker. He still has some gas in the tank. Spurs would have enough space for Durant if Duncan+Manu retire and they move Diaw or Green. I think a more likely signing would be Pau Gasol, who flirted with the Spurs briefly before going to Chicago and said he would take less money to be with a contender. Also, this week, Marc Gasol said Pau should sign with the Spurs.

I could definitely see Durant signing with Houston if they get a great coach signing like Walton/JVG right away and get a second big name in the mix to add to Harden/Capela/Bev.

I would rather have Horford than Whiteside. He's a better fit because he can spread the floor with the 3. Also he can take the PF spot if Capela improves as much as he did before this past year. Also there's stamina concerns with Whiteside. I just like Horford more for us because of the versatility and ability to be a rim protecting 5 and a stretch 4 with Capela in.
I'm definitely on the side of KD most likely signing a 1 yr extension to give it one more go with Russell, then they both go into free agency.
