To the folks here thinking Jordan did nothing wrong or that the manner in which he acted isn't questionable, if the Mavs had been the ones to back out in similar fashion, they would be absolutely slaughtered in the media and by those of you saying it's no big deal.

Is there some other free agent that the Mavericks will miss on signing because they were focused on deandre?
quote:Dunno, but Phoenix offered him silly money and a 4 year deal. Dallas is better off letting him walk. Anything over 2 years for Tyson is crazy, IMOquote:Wasn;t T. Chandler going to stay?

Didn't the NBA fine Cuban for publicly discussing the Jordan deal ?
quote:The NBA actually requires an agent be present when you sign a contract. So either the player learns how to be a certified agent (they probably don't want to spend time doing that) or hire a guy
Honestly these guys, especially max level players like Dre, are dumb to have agents. He is deciding which max level offer he wants and is paying out 4% on the gross? That's 3.2mm off the top of his $80mm contract for what exactly? Get a really good lawyer to review the contract (which is probably fairly boilerplate) and you are out a couple thousand dollars.
quote:Jim Tanner is Duncan and Ray Allen's "agent." He gets paid hourly, not commission. He's the only guy I know of set up like that. I first heard of this with Ray Allen years ago. He made a big deal about not having an agent, because he was locked into a certain salary anyway, what was there for the agent to do?quote:The NBA actually requires an agent be present when you sign a contract. quote:interesting. That's a genius idea. I wonder how other lawyers haven't been steadfast in doing this. I mean most NBA contracts are pretty standard fare, except for the big superstars who negotiate things like suites (T-Mac gets a suite for life and 2 courtside tickets to most games of his choosing) and other incidentals.quote:Jim Tanner is Duncan and Ray Allen's "agent." Clips at Mavs this season is gonna be a special kind of drama... Deandre's ears might blow out he will be booed so loud.

Clippers were by far my most hated team even before this happened. This just adds fuel to the fire.

This may be my favorite offseason ever.

I can't imagine any venue where DeAndre won't hear about it. Repeatedly, even in Houston because those will be pretty good rivalry games.
It's not like he is going back to the Nuggets or the Pelicans, he's going to arguably one of the most hated teams in the NBA. Only Doc Rivers, and Blake Griffen & CP3 fanboys can't figure out why the Clippers are hated. Now that fans have this to hang on DeAndre, it won't be forgotten for a while.
