The Mavs have a very sad history without Dirk wherein the only decent years involved Dick Motta...the first time around. Combine that with Dallas' inability to sign any free agent of consequence and their general ineptitude with the draft, and I worry that landing Dirk was the exception to the rule.

To put it another way, I don't have a lot of faith in a quick rebuild, especially is Carlisle bolts.

Blake is his best friend. He has questions on if the clippers were going to trade him or if he would leave as a free agent in a year or 2 whenever he becomes unrestricted.

He originally wanted to mull the decision over the weekend but was pressured by multiple teams to make a decision on Friday so those teams would know if they should move on.

It's a ****ty situation but I understand his hesitation. Just a ****ty situation all round. This whole moratorium is ridiculous. Free agents should be able to sign as soon as free agency starts and this never happens

And players in multiple sports have reached verbal agreements and backed out. This just feels weird. Never seen a team basically set up a fortress around a dude and start the countdown clock.

I don't get why none of the people "reporting" on this aren't blasting the Clippers for being shady.

Most of these "articles" are ridiculous, one of them started every sentence off with "sources say", what the **** kind of reporting is that.
