No kidding, if I were Dirk I'd retire tomorrow.
Does Dallas still have their Amnesty? They could Amnesty Dirk and he could sign with the Spurs for $1mm.

I'm sure that's supposed to make me angry, but I was genuinely happy for Finley when he won a title. I didn't mind when he got punched in the nuts by Terry either, but I was genuinely pleased he got a ring.

Wouldn't Clippers be in salary tax hell if they resigned?

The Spurs need every PF still in the league that was good 10 years ago. Dirk completes the package.

And Mike Finley is a good guy.

This is similar to what Kidd did when he left for the Knicks, right?

They are at 66mm with just 9 players before DeAndre's 20mm.

They paid luxury tax last year with about $5mm over the lux tax line.

If they signed DJ, then signed 3 more players at the league min, they would still be in lux tax and be a repeating offender.

$2.5 per dollar for the first 5mm,
$2.75 per dollar for 5-10mm,
$3.5 per dollar for 10-15.

So probably about $40-45mm in lux tax on top of the ~90mm payroll.

Exactly...I don't know wtf is going on, other than the Rockets/Spurs fans love it.
No we don't. As a Rockets fan I would much rather have Jordan in Dallas. He isn't enough to make the Mavs a contender, but him leaving makes the Clippers go from contender to a non-threat.

Yep. I hope DJ ends up in Dallas. LAC is a real contender with him.

Exactly. The meltdown is fun to watch, but it's better for the Spurs and Rockets to have Deandre sign in Dallas.

His recruitment bothered me. him getting used by Byron Smith for a job on staff.

This. Much rather him in Dallas than LA. And much rather every team in the East and leave Dallas and LA left to hang to dry.

ESPN sources say that DeAndre Jordan has promised the Mavericks a face-to-tace meeting tonight before he makes a final decision

Definitely would rather have DJ in Dallas, however the Mark Cuban meltdown truly is something that I would enjoy as a consolation prize.

Also this.

Anything bad happening to Cuban is hilarious.

I'm too distraught to work right now. Can't believe this is happening. I think he's 90%+ going to Clips. I think he's already committed to them and has just agreed to tell Cuban to his face tonight because Cuban asked for one last meeting. Deandre is too much of a ***** to just tell Cuban no regarding the meeting.

Our only hope is that Parsons can pull something out of his ass again.

If DeAndre decides to sign with LAC without meeting with Cuban or the Mavs, people would say he was being a ***** and coward and didn't want to have to confront them and tell them his decision to their face. If you ask me, agreeing to meet with Cuban is the right thing to do. He at least owes them that

I'm afraid DJ is most likely he gone. At least we still got Greg Smith.

Can't really argue with that. But meeting with Cuban in person is the lesser of 2 evils I guess

If DJ decides to bolt, does this have any affect on their other FA acquisitions? Do they start to reconsider?

So, since the issue is essentially that no one has officially signed anywhere until midnight tonight, should the Mavs then make a higher offer to Tyson Chandler than he agreed to with the Suns before the clock strikes 12 ? Would he even consider it or has that ship sailed ?

We shouldn't be punks toward the Suns just because LAC punked us.

Nothing is official till something is signed, but majority of players stick to there commitment after they make their announcement. Tyson doesn't strike me as someone that would do that.

I'd just take it like a man and your tank at that point. It'd be much better for the Mavs, anyway.

Yeah - kinda thought about that after I posted.

Just sucks because without all this DJ BS, I think Tyson is still a Mav.

If he goes through with this ***** move, officially blow it up. Host a Dirk retirement ceremony this weekend & make him chancellor of German basketball operations.
