Seriously? The coach was fired in week one and the true starting lineup (all of whom are hurt or playing hurt RIGHT NOW) played in seven games together. In spite of that they've lost only 2 home games since late January and are something like 28-12 in their last 40. The fact that they're even in the playoffs with all their setbacks is a damn miracle.

It was a special year all right - about as special to me as the ten years of Aggie football before Sumlin.

Lots of decisions to be made, the first of which has to be the fate of Mike D'Antoni. There are plenty of apologist who want to see what he can do with a healthy roster and a training camp, but I've seen enough. Hopefully this crap effort versus SAS gets him canned.

I'm sure that Kupchak will explore the trade market for Pau, but there's no pressure to trade him. Unless we move him for Kevin Love (or similar), we're happy to have his contribution on the court and his expiring contract.

This whole team will be different next year. Pau will be traded for a gaurd/wing. MWP will walk or be amnestied. Jamison, Clark, Meeks all gone

Hopefully Nash gets healthy. Dwight will be back, and hopefully ready. Kobe will be ready too.

I'm sure there will be some drama (mostly created by ESPN/the media), but for better or worse Dwight will sign with the Lakers.

Not sure I want him back. He needs to find some offensive moves. And a heart. That was absolutely pathetic.

I like Gasol's court vision and shooting touch but his stiffness and lack of athletic ability just kills me and has since 2008. Two rings or no, that trade certainly doesn't look quite as one-sided as once did to the haters. When his shot isn't falling he's a liability...an overpaid aging one.

The Lakers need to get a lot younger and quicker (I feel like I've been saying this for years). They need to find a way to keep Clark as well. He and Kobe should be the only untouchables on that roster.

I was at a newsstand on San Vincente a few nights ago and someone had posted a flier there selling Lakers' playoff tickets. I almost took a picture. That just does not happen out here. I'm trying to think of something you're less likely to see and all I come up with is Bigfoot.

That's a true statement, but in defense of all involved, including D'antoni, there wasn't a time they could develop any team cohesiveness because of the injuries.


Now, the question is how predictable was that? Howard off back injury, and the rest of the starters, plus Jameson & Blake, all over 32. Seems like linsanity to try to repeat that roster and expect different results.

Time to amnesty Kobe.

If Kobe was going to miss all of next season, then it would be any easy decision to amnesty him now and resign him as a FA the following season.

It sounds like Kobe could return as early as November. The worst case I'm hearing is February. Given either scenario it really doesn't make since to amnesty him.

The Lakers really don't care about the luxury tax since they are making money hand over fist. What are they going to do, give it to charity?

well, nobody likes to pay taxes. From their tv contract alone they should not have too big of issue, but they aren't going to throw money away.

Atlanta will make a run at signing him to pair with his buddy, Josh Smith. There will be some CP3 bromance talk in there, as well, but I don't see it happening in Atlanta.

But Josh Smith paired with D Howard in LA or somewhere else, possible.


Right now, Howard appears to be staying in LA, plus it makes the most sense for him financially. But how about in 3 weeks when who knows what is going through his mind? Unpredictable.

Not the worst season in Lakers history by any objective measure, but certainly the most disappointing relative to expectations. Kobe's injury was a real shot to the nuts.
