Couldn't have scripted a more perfect half. This squad looks comfortable, confident, and ready to dominate on the offensive half. They currently have no answer for Pulisic or the overloaded amount of midfield runs into the box. Balogun put a bow on top with a run, seal, and finish we waited a decade or so for Jozy Altidore to never do in a World Cup. Hopefully we don't park the bus in the second half; let the Ferrari redline for the entire 90 minutes.

I think this is the first game that I've watched under the new coach. It could just be due to the opponent, but they are playing so much more freely than under Berhalter. It's more fun to watch, even if they weren't scoring goals.

Winning 2nd balls, stepping up and intercepting balls, connecting and combining with each other, and FINISHING.

I was encouraged by the Senegal and Germany friendlies, and that is being validated. Wow.

Was thinking the same thing. I can't remember the US ever playing a more dominant half in the World Cup. I love this style of play.

We played Paraguay not that long ago and won 2-1. But it was a much closer match

It wasn't just good, it was like the dream. Aggressive, high pressure, fast, flashy, strong, like what the daydream is when people stutter about NFL players playing for the USA.

Maybe a few feet combined on two offsides goals too

Also just dominating the loose balls, 2nd balls, swarming as a team on defense to turn them over

I really am flabbergasted. Our touch was awesome, we maintained control in really tough spots, we played the right ball almost every time, and we were swarming the ball and cutting off passes on defense. We were in complete control.

Paraguay has to at least try something different from a formation and tactics perspective, right? They got absolutely shredded by the overload and then playing over the top, and they never really had a counter

The USMNT has just scored 3 goals against a team that only allowed 6 in WCQ under Alfaro.

Somehow our xG is under 1, which seems absurdly off. We did score one goal without shooting, but I would have expected closer to 1.5 or so. Paraguay is on 0.1

I think the Germans might have to say something about their first half on Brazil's home field in 2014.

They wanted to counterattack, but were wholly overwhelmed with how dedicated we were to cutting off any and every pass out of their back half. It was a total difference of energy and confidence.
