Why would a man who could have almost any coaching job in the world pick the usmnt?

The dude is going to play with his grandkids and live the good life until Germany (a real footballing nation) come calling....which I think will be around Friday evening.

I have a suspicion that Klopp fully intends to stick to his word about taking a full year sabbatical.

With a litte help from chatgpt:

Subject: Urgent Call for a Dedicated and Visionary National Team Manager

Dear United States Soccer Federation,

As passionate supporters of U.S. Soccer and dedicated members of the TexAgs Soccer community, we are writing to express our collective feelings and the pressing need for a new national team manager. Our community, comprising ardent fans and analysts, is deeply committed to the growth and success of soccer in the United States. We believe that the appointment of a new manager is critical to realizing our national team's potential and securing its future success on the global stage.

Our national team is blessed with a wealth of talent and potential, yet recent performances and decisions have highlighted the urgent need for fresh leadership and innovative tactics. We seek a manager who not only possesses a deep understanding of the game but also embodies the passion, strategic vision, and commitment required to elevate our team to new heights.

The ideal candidate should have:
1. **Proven Experience:** A track record of success in international or top-tier club football, demonstrating the ability to manage high-pressure situations and deliver consistent results.
2. **Tactical Acumen:** Innovative and adaptable strategies that can leverage the unique strengths of our players and counter diverse styles of play.
3. **Player Development:** A strong emphasis on nurturing and developing young talent, ensuring a continuous pipeline of skilled players ready to compete at the highest levels.
4. **Cultural Fit:** An understanding of and respect for the unique aspects of American soccer culture, fostering a strong connection with fans, players, and the broader soccer community.

We firmly believe that with the right leadership, our national team can achieve significant milestones and inspire a new generation of soccer enthusiasts. We urge the USSF to prioritize this search and consider candidates who align with these criteria to steer our national team toward a brighter and more successful future.

Thank you for your attention to this critical matter. We stand ready to support the team and the new manager in every possible way.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]
On behalf of the TexAgs Soccer Community

Totally not the point but thanks for your insight.

If our only goal as a country try is to consistently beat Mexico, Ggg is the greatest coach in history.

I think that may have been a chatgpt hallucination.
Had the output been 'trolls' instead, could it be questioned?

New balance is very popular. Maybe not that style. But both my kids wear new balance.

There's a difference between what old dudes think from when they were younger, and what's cool now.

Wrong. Saka is signed with New Balance, cogito ergo sum, New Balance is awesome.

If you aren't in your teens or 20s, you're old. That's how it works

I'm not sure a coach is the issue. I just don't see a ton of heart or grit from this group. They seem to be happy that they are Americans who play in Europe and considered the best American players ever. Until that changes not sure results change

I couldn't disagree more. They have a country club culture when they come to play and they have no consequences.

They play for a guy that would rather be a buddy than a coach.

Marsch has talked about his bad experience with the interview process a couple of different times and then has a lot of pretty critical things to say about the US exiting the tournament. If you haven't read the quotes in that linked article, do so. And then try to imagine any other national team coach saying something similar about any other team they aren't coaching. It's weird. Almost like he expected to get the job and is really bitter that it wasn't handed to him. And worse, he's not moving on. Definitely doesn't make me think we made a mistake not handing him the keys.

I'm not happy about Ggg but I don't think Marsch could do any better.

Apparently they're making an announcement next week on Ggg's fate.

I'm trying to imagine how USSF could screw these last 18 months up any more than they did.

I have no confidence they will make any sound decisions here going forward.

How long have you followed the USMNT?

I've been following since 1994. There has been ups, and downs, but these last few years have been the pits…

The core players wanted Ggg.

If they wanted to keep him, they should've won more games.

It's on them for selecting Ggg and not performing with him as coach.

They need a non players coach to come in and get the best out of them. They literally can't beat anyone but Mexico.

An own goal saved Ggg in March.

Rumor is Crocker was in Germany for the euros rather than at the Uruguay match. If true, that's simply unacceptable and shows how unserious US Soccer really is.

I don't care if he was trying to recruit. We were in our last major match before the 2026 World Cup. US Soccer executives needed to be there.
