The key is if you view the elbow as intentional it is a Red.

i heard someone say today that refs look for a clenched fist when assessing elbows. a clenched fist signifies intentional malice.

i'm not an Arsenal fan, and i'm not a Harry Kane fan. I think Kane has spent a career of getting over on refs. 2 seasons ago reached his zenith with his constant undercutting of players jumping in the air just like Bruce Bowen used to on the San Antonio Spurs. (maybe there is something to the name Spurs).

All that to say, he's a dirty SOB. but, i don't think that's a red.

How a clenched fist has any bearing on an elbow to the face is a complete mystery to me.

It is an intentional elbow to the face. Kane looks back at Gabbi before he throws the elbow. If you don't believe that an intentional elbow to the face or neck, closefisted or not, is a straight red, then I don't know what is. It would get you arrested on the street. It would get you a multiple game suspension in the NHL where the players are wearing helmets.

Guimaraes should have seen red earlier in the year as well. There's no place for it in soccer.
