This Ref has been poor. Just very inconsistent both ways.

QUIT TRYING TO WIN A PENALTY AND SCORE THE ****ING GOAL

Decent result considering we weren't our best. Although, we did waste the home field advantage.

Not sure how that was not a Penalty.

It could have been a penalty, but Saka definitely initiated the contact. He had Neuer beat. Just move past him and shoot!

Need to see the replay again in real time

Bayern are the favorites now, but Arsenal can definitely win if they stop creating goals for them.

Saka seems to put his right leg out there to guarantee he draws contact but I really want to see it in real time. That's bang bang and Neuer getting their very late certainly affected Saka's movement.

Only if Arsenal stop shooting themselves in the foot. I thought we were clearly the better team. I still cannot figure out why this team seems so different in Cup matches vs. the league

It does look like Saka hangs his leg out there but I have a hard time seeing how the ref caught that in real time. Also agree with those that said he should have avoided the contact and gotten off a shot. High probability he walks off the field with a win instead.

Yeah. I don't believe the ref processed all of that in real time. I think he swallowed the whistle to let the clock run out knowing VAR would look at it.

I don't see how VAR didn't force the ref to take a look at that again to make sure.

Yeah, if we don't turn the ball over so much, I think we end up with a 2-1 type win today. We gave Bayern 80% of their chances via counters off turnovers.

VAR probably looked at and determined Saka was playing for the penalty rather than trying to get to the ball. Once they see that there's no way it's getting overturned, so no reason to have the ref look at it.

It would have probably stood as a penalty if that was the call on the field.

Arteta has got to get these guys refocused and ready to go for a tough match this weekend against Villa. Have to keep moving forward

That's if VAR actually looked at it. The English stream (not Paramount+) said they are almost always told when VAR looks at something and they said they heard nothing from the VAR team. Now this was also directly at the end of the match so maybe they just didn't since the final whistle had gone.

Agree, gotta reset and focus. Big mental aspect to the remainder of the season with so much at stake.

welp, got a ticket last minute on a biz trip to London. Haven't seen the replay, but still in disbelief that wasn't a penalty for saka at the end. Emirates is quite the spectacle in person, but not nearly as modern as I'd thought. Very cool experience though.

The internet meltdown has been pretty spectacular to watch. I know today was disappointing, but still tons to play for and I do think we can win in Munich. Apparently Kiwior, Zinchenko, Jorginho and Martinelli are all no where near good enough and should never be allowed to play for us again.

Well, people immediately started discussing a possible Arsenal-Man City matchup and who we'd rather play next and overlooked Bayern the whole time even though Bayern has tons of talent and ability.

Anything less than a resounding win was going to satisfy the many who think Bayern is Germany's version of Man United of Chelsea this year.

Saka obviously dangled his leg out into the defender instead of trying to score. Disappointing as I would've loved to have seen what would've happened if he 100% tried to score instead. Sigh.

Emirates sounded LOUD at times. Electric.

I agree. But does anyone believe that if that's Kane he doesn't make the call?

I believe that. It clearly wasn't a penalty.

So apparently after I turned the post game off, this "controversy" exploded, with Bayern wanting a penalty for this.

I agree with Unkel, but man does this underline how many teams, including Arsenal, are overcomplicating the simplest parts of the game to the point of absurdity. And maybe it would wake them up to get punished in some insane manner.

I believe in slow motion it wasn't a penalty because Saka initiates contact, but I also can't believe the ref saw it from his angle and could make that call in real time. Neuer was rushing out and it looked like Saka tried to side step him and was wiped out. At full speed, that gets called 99% of the time. If VAR knocked it off, I wouldn't have blamed them.

He wasn't shown a red for deliberately elbowing Gabriel in the face off the ball. He is clearly reffed differently than everyone else.

Maybe but that would require an international conspiracy at this point.

Meh that's maybe called a red 10% of the time at most?

Certainly could've been but I would argue it wasn't vicious enough. I agree it was intentional.
