Awful lineup. The only way the us is winning here is by forcing mistakes from English back line IMO. You need somebody with a motor in attack, preferably Aaronson. You need a right back who will actually defend. This lineup sucks. Its just Gregg style plug and play again . Hope England just has no clue what we do in like every game somehow.

Wright has skills, but so far he has never shown the ability to be effective at pressing/harrying the backline
Which is one thing we really need today. I think he is decently fast, and from the few club games of his I got to watch, he has a knack for making runs off the back shoulder of defenders. So that is somehwat of a weakness of this England back line as well.
I think I would have started Aaronson over McKennie, and tried to jump on England in the first 10 minutes and see if you can force them to cough up the ball for a goal.

Based on the first game, I think it is very likely McKennie comes off at the half unless he is magically healed up.

A result protects us from a shock England loss to Wales, as long as we can beat Iran.

A win means that we can draw Iran and still advance.

But yeah, realistically, we could probably lose 30-nil and still advance from the group with a win over Iran.

I think this game would have been a great opportunity to start Jesus with Aaronson sitting in behind them. They wreak havoc with pressing, and Jesus running the CBs all over the field and having the pace to get in behind.

I think there is a chance we see Wright sub off, and Weah push up top to the 9 with Reyna coming on to play on the wing at some point this game.

You guys keep talking about Weah at the 9, and I don't disagree with it at all, but has be EVER played there for us?

It sounds cliche, but if the team collectively plays with the 'wont back down' mindest of old, it could make all the difference. They have shown it many times before.

I think he has the talent to make a big impact, my worry so far at this level has been he doesnt seem to show the 'want to' to make those things happen.

Honestly, as was mentioned above, this match is almost meaningless. We MUST beat Iran to get in unless we pull off one of the greatest upsets in history.

This England squad is awesome. To beat them would be a miracle. I'm hoping we win, but I don't expect it. The Iran game is everything. Wales will not beat England. Whoever plays for England against Wales will want to dominate them, they will not take it easy on Wales. England's second 11 should beat Wales 5-0.

I'm very hyped for this game and hoping for the miracle, but Iran is the must-win, barring a miracle win today.
