I am starting to get bad vibes with the time its taking on Pochettino. Hope they get it wrapped up today and he can come out and wave to fanes at game tonight. This has taken waaaay too long.

USSF is a non-profit, so this is just like every big-name college coach.

The surprising part is that it took them this long to realize they should emulate college athletics and build up a war chest of donations to help with coaching hires. Hopefully this model continues in the future and we're never stuck with a cheap nepotistic option again.

Id never made a short joke.

My point is that he's not bigger than taller, stronger than his peers. 5'7" is not tall for a 14 year old. It's about average. He'll end up under 6'.

That dude doesn't look 14 to me. He might be 5'7" but, he sure doesn't look 14.

I also look up 5'7" and that's close the the 32nd percentile for 14 year olds in the usa.

I'd wager he's bigger and stronger as well, simply because you don't see 14 year olds being able to hang physically with grown ass men.

I don't know why it matters. The idea that we wouldn't be a better soccer nation if our most gifted athletes chose soccer over football or basketball is pretty sound.

their best athletes can play with our best athletes in athletic competitions and vice versa. However, our best athletes tend to choose football or basketball first, and train a those from youth. If those same top .01% of the worlds best athletes instead chose soccer and trained at it from youth onward, it stands to reason we might be a better soccer program. This isn't a novel or particularly unique point of view.

That said, because he could "cover" a professional wr doesn't mean he could play in the NFL. There's lots of people who have covered NFL receivers who didn't make it to the NFL.

*Just reread you said football and not the NFL. Yes, I'd wager most professional soccer players could play football

He had the athleticism and could've certainly played slot in the NFL. Think Cole Beasley or Danny Amendola etc.

And I'm not arguing with you.

My whole point is that for years Americans have just promoted the kids that were bigger stronger faster and other kids got left out. To me, he doesn't fit the definition of bigger stronger faster.
