You made me curious, at a glance (assuming accurate reporting)
- Palace only has 3 players on less than a million pounds a year and only 4 more making less than 2 million. 5 players over 4 million, 3 of those making 5m or more.
- Union Berlin finished just outside relegation last season, has a total season spend of 26m (down 11m from last season). Last season over half their roster was under 1 million Euros for the season, their salaries are up across the board this season with about a third of the team between 1 million and 2 million. Their top 6 make from 2.3 to just over 4m.
- SC Heerenveen (11th in the Dutch table last season) has a payroll that looks like lower end MLS salaries. Their total wage bill for the season is just over 4m Euros (down a million from last season) and their top earner is on 540k with most of the club between 100-300k (along with a few very low salaries that I'm assuming are mostly promoted academy players).
- Also looked at PSV for reference, their season wage bill is 24.5m with Dest at #1 and Pepi at #3. About 2/3 of their roster makes under 1m with only their top 3 over 2m (Dest 3.9, Pepi 2.35).
