I cannot stand Wynalda. Drives me insane, I listen to a lot less SiriusXM FC since he came on full time.

Herc seems like a generally cool dude. Everyone that played with or knows Wynalda seems to dislike him, and there's probably a reason for that.

Watch his One Shot On Frame interview with Jason Davis. Herc's professional story is just crazy. He was getting paid under the table as a ringer for beer-league teams in Vegas as a teenager. And when he went to play in Mexico they called him El Gringo

Reading through his Twitter feed, Wynalda is not a Berhalter fanboy.

Definitely need to check this out, thanks!

Interesting list of suggest choices for next USMNT coach:

Non-MLS
Jurgen Klopp
David Wagner
Hugo Perez
Javier Aguirre
Matias Almeyda
Marcello Gallardo
Jose Pekerman
Patrick Vieira
Herve Renard
Mauricio Pochettino

MLS/Domestic
Cherundolo
Nancy
Curtain
Ramos

If USSF goes with MLS/Domestic choice, I hope they go after Wilfried Nancy. Pochettino could be an interesting choice.

I've heard Cherundolo is the front runner.

At least he's won something as a gaffer.

I know I'm wrong, but I still wish we had hired Henry.

He definitely wouldn't have coddled the players. I think he might've been just the right kind of dick to get the most out of them because he's a legend of the game.

Will be interesting to see how the French Olympic team does. And assuming we actually even fire Ggg, I wonder if they'd wait till after the Olympics to make a hire. Though I kinda assume that bridge has been burned so he's probably not an option.

Regardless - I do think our next coach needs to be a guy who has a global reputation and can command respect immediately.

Bringing back Berhalter after his 6 month sabbatical following the World Cup was one of the most infuriating decisions in a long line of bad decisions by US Soccer.

What a complete waste of time the last 2 years have been.

And yet we still watch. I love US Soccer. I love that it's the only major sport where we get to play as the underdog, with hopes obviously that we eventually break through. If they keep Gregg on after this last showing and after the fans have basically given an ultimatum to the USSF, I may honestly have to give up my fandom. That sounds silly I know and I never thought I'd go full Karen mode on one of my teams, but the last 2 years under the USSF have been so egregiously bad and such a slap in the face to US Soccer fans that it's gotten me to that point. If they can read all the messages, hear all the voices, see the passion and still throw up a middle finger to their fans in this situation, then they honestly don't deserve us. That's where I'm at with it.

I'm a soccer fan in general and I love my club teams, but I've always predominately been a national team fan above all else. I hope I don't have to give that up.

They made the right choice with Hayes for USWNT so there is a glimmer of hope for the USMNT side. We shall see.

The silence is deafening.

What could possibly be the reason to keep him?

We barely qualified for the WC.
We advanced out of our group in the WC? Tying a crappy Wales, tying England, and barely beating a crappy Iran?
We lost to Trinidad and Tobago, again.
Barely beat Jamaica's C team.
Lost to a crappy Panama team.

The only thing Ggg has accomplished is beating a crappy Mexico team consistently.

Dang I wish Twellman had played in a World Cup. He seems like one of those guys that would perform well (at least at the group level) in such a large tournament…

anytime I wonder if I'm being too dramatic about my personal ultimatum for his firing, I just look at USMNT social media and see that it's universal. There's not a single person advocating his staying and we're being way nicer about it. There's even apparently been sponsors threatening to pull funds. If the USMNT is truly a business....it's not a good one. If I was sitting at that board table and there were colleagues vouching for him to stay, I'd say or do something to lose my job. No doubt.

The only possible explanation is they think the player pool is terrible and it's not his fault?

Surely they can't really believe that. I know the golden generation might be a bit overstated, but clearly still the most talent front to back we've had at the national team level…not most experienced necessarily, but most raw talent. But, even with that reasoning, you can't just shout over the fans. It's one thing if it was a 50/50 thing where half wanted him to stay and half to go. This is a 100/0 thing. This is dollars and cents time. With coaches, it might not always be the most appropriate move (it is this time obviously), but when you start to risk the bottom line, you have to make a move. On top of that, we've become a mockery on the international stage under Gregg. It's not like it's going unseen globally and just irking us stateside. International media are calling us a clown show. There's simply not a justification for it.

To me, this is why the American Outlaws' statement/letter was a good thing (despite how "cringe" it might or might not be). They weren't really sending a message to USSF… they were sending a message to the whole fanbase that it's no longer just a corner of Twitter that's upset about Ggg.

I hope fans start taking action. I have had a recurring Insider membership for a few years but cancelled it today. If they're trying to run this ****show like a business, then we have to vote with our pocketbooks.

I fully expect them to announce that they are behind GGG 100% to lead us into the 2026 WC and the only reason they'll fire him is if he fails to qualify for the World Cup

for people who didn't see the statement:

"There needs to be accountability and a plan to move forward for the USMNT," the Outlaws said. "It's time to make a change in the head coaching position. Our Copa America is over too soon. It was a moment to show progress for the USMNT's aspirations, create thousands of new lifelong fans and build energies in communities nation-wide."
Berhalter has led the team to seven wins, six losses and one draw since returning in September.
"We have heard from our members and chapter leaders that the USMNT needs change," the Outlaws said. "Change is necessary to prepare to compete at a home World Cup."

I personally think it was a bit too mild and would've preferred more heavy-handed, but glad they made a statement.

On top of the logical reasons and poor performance behind the need for his ouster, there's also the consideration for him personally. He will be the most hated coach to ever lead this team, will get booed nonstop, will get 100% of the blame for every negative thing that happens. He shouldn't want to continue on as manager on top of everything else.

I think anger and emotion within a statement reduces the effectiveness, thus I like what they did.
