How many of those in Japan would have started last night?
Mexico's team last night mostly was the same team that played in the Nations League final which was theoretically the best squads from each nation. The only differences were goalkeeper (Talavera instead of Ochoa), center forward (Funes Mori instead of Antuna), and a midfielder (Dos Santos instead of Carlos Rodriguez) because those players are at the Olympics, and Chucky Lozano was out because he got hurt earlier in the tournament
Several of their players who came on as subs like Henry Martin, Diego Lainez, Luis Romo are also on the Olympic team.
The US team was almost all players down the depth chart, while the Mexico team was mostly the starters, but missing some starters and some key depth.
