I think he was fouled. The problem was mental. He just sat there waiting for the defense. Run to daylight and kill off the clock.

Played it slow, had an easy through ball back to Hoppe. The last thing you want to do, given the timing of the play, is turn it over right there. If you over hit it, its not the end of the world.

Pretty good showing, despite having to hold on for dear life, for this group beating a mostly 1st team lineup from Canada.

With the roster we chose, vs what the other top countries brought, winning the group is a great result.

Still a lot to work on, including for Berhalter. Some players have played well, and deserve more looks. Some players have made it clear they probably dont belong in any WorldCup Qualifying (unless they just make massive improvements during their club season)

Our overall player pool is so young, I imagine the 23 is going to be somewhat volatile between now and the World Cup itself.

Would've been embarrassing if we lost to a team consisting of hockey players.

Berhalter isn't so bad, he's still finding the team he wants for the World Cup. This roster and tactics are just experiment and preparation...

I would say that about a coach who has proven to be good. He hasnt really done that. I'm not saying he can't, but it would be good for him to show that ability at some point.

I was the third poster on this thread you turkey. Maybe another less preposterous idea is that I support our coach and what he's doing...

Why the heck are the other 2 matches today being played at 9 PM? The games are in Dallas.

I support him too, I think he does done a great job of turning the pool of players into a team. I just think he still has a lot to prove, in regards to his tactical mind and in game adjustments....and at times, roster selection. Which he very well could get better at tactics, he isnt old.

As much as we want to win another Gold Cup (me especially), this is a throwaway tournament to evaluate talent for the real tournament.

What if Gregg is like Trump, and is always painting 5 dimensional chess, looking ahead? Yeah, that's the ticket! Gregg is purposefully putting players into bad situations to see how they react!

He seems to be the most creative attacking player.

Least satisfying win I can remember. Outplayed for the last 75:minutes, they looked like an 8th grade girls basketball team trying to break a press. On the rare occasions they got the back the ball back they turned back over in so many bad ways I lost count. Mainly they tried a 40 yard pass that didn't work time and again, but I guess hope abounded. Canada had open space everywhere, and nothing changed even with the subs.
But it's a win, better than the alternatives.

Winner winner chicken dinner! Spot on. This is the perfect tournament to see who might be called up during the WCQ's and to work on things tactically. I wouldn't read a thing into the Gold Cup. It's pretty clear who is going to be picked for the vital games. This is a chance for others to give Berhalter something to think about.

I think everyone wants GB to become a good coach and the quicker the better. Problem is his squad selection and in-game tactics are pretty questionable in tournaments of all types. That said, we're on a pretty decent winning streak and have some outstanding talent in the player pool, so maybe he figures this all out and we have a great cycle.
