Southlake Carroll's is very nice, but Denton Ryans is better.

Of course, Carroll has never lost in their stadium either. As a matter of fact, since entering 5a ball, Carroll has never lost in any high school stadium in the universe.

I've been to Temple's, Cy-Fair's, and Westlake's. I put in the seats you see in the center sections of Waco's, Galena Park's, and Midland's. Out of those six Midland was the most impressive. That thing is huge and really sticks out in such a sorry town.

janag81---Temple's was built in the 70's....

I was talking about Waco ISD Stadium being the fore-front and model of alot of other new high school stadiums popping up around the state.

After Waco ISD was built...and racked in the money from all of the playoffs games held each season.....other schools wanted new stadiums to try and attract playoff games.

Waco ISD is still the most successful "new" stadium in the state as far as it generating money....mostly because of it's location being central to everyone in the state.

The stadium was built at a cost of over 15 million dollars and was planned to be paid off in 10 years.

The stadium was paid off in less than 3 years......and now all of that money it generates is now being pumped into the school system.

if what you say is true, then I commend the people responsible for their foresight. That was one administrative decision that has paid big dividends for the school distict.

The Waco ISD Stadium was at the forefront of new high school football stadiums. The big differences were the replay video screen, sounds system, location, and Artificial Grass. Waco High and University played the first game on a Friday night and my home town played on Saturday. No one had seen that kind of turf before. And no one was even sure which shoes to wear. Rubber from the turf was flying everywhere and people were sliding everywhere when the dew set.

I know this isn’t saying much but Baylor had to do a lot of updates to their stadium and drop their price just to compete in getting playoff games.

If Waco ISD was really smart...they would add more seats to the stadium.......and more parking spaces......and under the stadiums on each side add indoor practice facilities like they planned......

Pissed me off the UIL snubbed Waco as being a site for the pre-determined 5-A state championships.

The stadium will never generate enough income to help the Waco ISD. I don't think that there is enough money in the state to help WISD.

Temple's home side was built my senior year in 1997. We played our first home game 5 games into the season there. We had to play our first 2 home games at Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco. The visitor's side is still the original from the 70's. I'm sure after they get the new turf and jumbotro, they will give WISD a run for their money.

I am with jread. Groesbeck's blew my mind when I saw it. You just don't expect a stadium like that in a town like Groesbeck.

Cy-Fair's looks amazing. It looks like a big money Baptist church.

Waco to me looks very government looking. It has zero character (ala Reed Arena). I realize it may be state-of-the-art, but it looks like just concrete to me.

Glad to hear the Gopher Bowl mentioned. That place rocks. It is built under ground a bit. Pretty sweet.

Off topic, but what was that field (near the new grounds of the AAC) that belonged to DISD? Imust have asked my dad 100 time s"Is that the Cotton BOwl?" growing up. Torn down at least 10 years ago.

Southwest Stadium (Southwest High School, San Antonio) is pretty sweet. It sits down in the Medina River valley, about 300 yards from the river. One set of stands is built into the slope of the valley. The stadium is surrounded by HUGE pecan trees, and the fog always rolls in to surround the stadium. Pretty sweet, wish I had some pics.

Most of these mentioned are for entire multi districts--they don't really "belong" to any one school.

That makes them not have an aura that ONLY a stadium that is the HOME of one high school can have.

They are stadiums, but they lack a large part of the Friday night magic.

I think that is why a poster tried to steer it away from the joint use stadiums--which since they combine for several schools will be more expensive--but the magic just isn't there.

All of these stadiums are nice, but none can say they provide a roof over the home stands as AAA Mexia does. And believe me it has come in handy over the last 50+ years!.......
