Hey Lynn,

I am known as one of the fastest human beings on the face of the earth in the 40 yd dash. Its not hard to figure out that I rub shoulders with some pretty well known figures.....ie Jose Canseco. Get a clue.

I would say that Bo Jackson speed was the most impressive, the guy ran w/ Reggie Bush's speed and with Lendale Whites size.

Hell I would say he was faster than Reggie Bush, considering the guy also ran Track for Auburn.

Who on that list besides Herschel Walker and Bo Jackson were bigger than Curtis Dickey size wise?

This site has Dickey at 6-1, 213....Jackson was about 5-10 pounds heavier. http://www.databasefootball.com/players/playerpage.htm?ilkid=DICKECUR01

With a 100, there is an acceleration, maintain, and deceleration phase

Now that might be the biggest bunch of b.s. I've read on this entire thread so far. There is no part of the 100 m (or any race for that matter) that you have a "deceleration phase". Some guys reach their top speed earlier than others while others attain their top speed past 80 meters.

I'm also amazed that this thread lasted as long as it did without Reggie's name being brought up while being compared to a chemically enhanced Ben Johnson. Good job, guys.

Will, you might want to check on that whole deceleration thing. It happens.

Too bad his hands were about 7.8; arugably the worst pick of the Jimma era.

Sr. Gomez....it might happen, but it isn't an intentional "phase". Sprinters try to overcome it and maintain top speed through the finish. It used to be that all sprinters planned on it and just accepted it.....not any more. Maurice Green is proof of it. He was as fast at 60 meters as he was at 99 meters which resulted in his WR. Times are a changing (literally) in sprinting philosophies and coaching styles.

You run track for A&M? I'm a track nut.....can't wait to go watch the state meet in Austin.

I'm outta here!

Oh, it is definitely not intentional...it just happens. Some of the elite can actually accelerate after a decelaration (usually occurs during an exhalation).

Never ran track at A&M, just a fan. Thought about training for Masters track but those guys are still incredibly fast.

In his TD run at the end of the 04 KST game, I timed Reggie at 3.95 from the 40 to the goal line. This of course was carrying a football, in a fb uniform, and was a running start. But still, 3.95 is pretty awesome.

Alexander Wright is the fastest human I've ever seen in person. About 10 years ago, he was playing on a softball team with guys he lived around, including Hershel Walker, Jim Jeffcoat, and two or three other Cowboys past or present (at the time). They played a game one night on a field next to ours the hour after we played. Naturally, there were plenty of people there.

Anyway, Wright hits a hard bouncer back to the pitcher and is thrown out at first by half a step. Yes, that's HALF A STEP, and that may be pushing it! No, it wasn't to the pitcher's side. No, it wasn't dropped. And yes, it was fielded cleanly and thrown cleanly (though maybe not as hard as it could have been) to first.
