The guy's hype could never be higher right now. One more season will do absolutely nothing for his draft status considering Brady Quinn will most likely be the top NFL style QB taken next year. If he is smart he takes the money and runs with it. Go out on top with the best season possible. There is really no way to top this season for him. Go ahead and go pro and stay away from the texans organization.

With the first pick in the 2006 NFL Draft the Houston Texans select.....Reggie Bush!!!!

Thanks and Gig'em

I think he leaves. Did you hear his post-game comments last night?

When asked if he would stay or go pro he said something to the effect of "i'll sit down with my family and decide what is best for me and my family right now". Not that that spefically says he'll go pro, but he sure didn't say that he would be back next year.

When asked if Texas would be back to the National Championship game next year, he said something to the effect of "THEY know how to get here and THEY'VE been here before", not we.

Maybe I misunderstood him, but he sounded like he already knew what he was doing, and it doesn't involve t.u.

I hope he does go.......

1150 AM in BCS just announced that he is coming back next year. Not sure where they got that info from.

something tells me he will return...I didnt think Leinhart would return last year and he did.

Mack Brown has a way of keeping his players ala Rickey Williams

I think he goes Pro. Troy Aikman on the Ticket in Dal this a.m. says although he has an unusual throwing motion, he is better prepared for the NFL than Vick was at this stage.

Mack Brown hasn't lost a single difference-maker early from Ricky Williams to Derrick Johnson. Jemail, Hicks, and the rest of the sip alumni will make certain VY returns next year.

They are seriously screwed at QB if he leaves, and they know it.

Which is why t.u. will continue to be the only professional football team in the NCAA!

i dont agree. he could return for one more year of college life and being the biggest man in austin. the money will still be waiting for him, and those insurance policies they take out will give him peace of mind in case of injury. i think he does like leinhart and sticks around to repeat. they never leave early under mack.

If Vince does not go pro the NCAA needs to thoroughly investigate the Texas program because no one in their right mind would pass up going pro after the performance he had in this game and throughout the season. Degrees be damned, he can always go back and finish it after he's retired from the pro ranks.

You're right, why go back and enjoy college? Why have fun one more year?
Look, despite all the hype right now, odds are he's going to fail in the NFL. Now I believe he won't because he is the greatest competitor i've ever seen, but it's very difficult to do well in the NFL as a QB.

Plus, if he goes pro, he's going to the Saints. Do you think he really wants to go there? Money isn't everything guys. He'll get the biggest insurance policy in college football history and be set either way.

No, the money will not be waiting for him.

The NFL collective bargaining agreement will be redone in March of '06. Rumors are that there will be restrictions placed on what rookies can make while this year's rookies (class of '06) will not have those restrictions.

He stands to lose a ton of $$ if he stays.

How many "baseball contracts" does Hicks have available this year?

I earnestly pray that the ghost of Charlie Moran has returned in the form of Coach Fran, and that we never again lose to those "other people" over in Travis County. At least not very often...

BTW, all of you saying Texas needs to be investigated needs to use common sense. Texas can't pay what the NFL would pay him (even if they did pay players). If he wants the money, he goes pro.

Also, Leinart came back also. VY will just get better next year. And VY also has a girlfriend who'll still be at UT. A gf of 5 years. And he has teammates he loves and knows if he comes back, there's a good chance we go back to the MNC.

If he stays, I hope the NCAA finally takes a long hard look at tu's keen ability to keep 1st round draft picks for another year.

Forgive my NFL ignorance. If you get drafted by a team you don't like and doesn't pay you what you feel you command, you are not tied to them are you?
trmas
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Texas will never be investigated - you do know where most of the NCAA lawyers came from, don't you? Nevertheless, he'll be back.

He is a fool if he doesn't come out. Nothing would increase his stock next year. Taking a year out of his NFL career would cost him $5M or more that he would lose forever. It is just common sense. It makes sense with him being a Horn and it would be common sense if he were an Aggie.

I think quite awhile back I read something about there being a new collective bargaining agreement going into affect next year for the NFL i.e., not affecting this years draft but next years. I remember reading that the new CBA will put a cap on how much rookies can make in signing bonuses and such to limit the outrageous bonuses and hold outs. They were talking about how this might be the biggest deciding factor in VY's decision. Does anyone elso remember hearing something similar? I can't remember if it was in an article or I just heard it on some message board so I have no clue how much validity it holds. Hopefully it's true and VY doesn't feel like losing millions and goes pro.

JESUS CHRIST.....this has to be the dumbest post I have read on these boards in some time, and believe me you have some stiff competition.

Yeah the NCAA should investigate because they must be doing something wrong if Vince returns...were you screaming for the NCAA to investigate USC when Leinhart returned...what about when Jason White returned to Oklahoma for his senior season..

and lets think about why he would return..maybe to win a Heisman trophy, another national title,he loves his school, his coaches, his teamates, has a girl at Texas, likes the college life, likes Austin, does not want to play for the Saints, will be the most popular guy in the state next season...yeah, no reason whatsoever to stay

your a dumass...

Article from Slate (after the Notre Dame game) about why Leinart may not be pro-level QB and why he came back for his senior season: http://www.slate.com/id/2128209/

And a good write up about last night's game: http://www.slate.com/id/2133821/

Aggie - if you are going to call a fellow ag (class of 2000) an idiot. Let's do it right: "You're a dumbass." There, that's better.

Have some of you mensas ever stopped to think that being more prepared when you enter the NFL is a lot more valuable, longterm, than an extra year of earning. Assuming VY stays healthy, he's going to get big bonus money. Whether this year or next. But the additional year of college would make him even more prepared. It's hilarious reading you aggies talk about how "dumb" he would be to not turn pro when 5 months ago, you same Einsteins were talking about him never playing a snap of QB in the NFL. I'm not saying he should or shouldn't go. I sure as hell won't be bitter if he does. He's already done more for UT football than any player before him. Not to mention the fact that he is now, without argument, the greatest to ever don the Burnt Orange. But, you're foolish if you don't think another year of college would make him a more complete QB for the NFL.

Maybe VY would come back for another shot at the Heisman? I dunno how big his ego is (or how big his minor league baseball contract would be), but what else would he possibly have to prove?
SwampFox
How long do you want to ignore this user?
He's an idiot if he doesn't go. No bigger statement than that Rose Bowl victory can be made in his college career. He has nothing to gain by staying and millions to lose - a la Leinhart. And though he seems tough, God forbid he gets hurt and loses everything. I hope for his sake, and for our sake as Ags - that he goes.

he's quite possibly the #1 pick. i could see the texans taking him for pub, being from houston, etc.

its a big decision for him that is for sure. Go out this year and be a 3-5 pick with 1 MNC and all the $$$ involved or go next year as #1 with repeat MNCs and this rumored CBA cutting into the cash. what would you do?

If the kid is smart, he will see what the NFL is willing to pay. If it's tens of millions, he'd be a fool to pass that up for one more year of college, especially if he gets to stick around H-Town with momma nearby. If not, then return to tu and enjoy being a BMOC another year. Mack does have a way with his players, though.

The world's his oyster right now.

Yes BOM.

I understand Ricky Williams as an OF.

But when Simms was signed as a LHP and Benson as a punch hitter (misspelling intended) I raised my eyebrows. And then Derrick Johnson being signed as 1B, I mean wow, you guys should be investigated.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
BOM - please forgive our lazy ways. "Minor league baseball contract" is just simply a lot easier to type than "sophisticated method of laundering the under-the-table cash payments delivered every Friday morning by FedEX that the NCAA has not investigated to date"
