Plus, the guy said Ole Miss isn't southern. Probably the most culturally southern school there is. Their mascot is a confederate soldier.

Every Techie is utterly obsessed with A&M and can't help but lie constantly when we are involved. "A&M came to us FIRST but then chickened out"

It's a story that satisfies their red headed step child jealous little brother syndrome at every level but when you ask the simple question of "why would A&M do that?" It completely falls apart from a lack of logic.

Plus it fails the other simple test: there's no way A&M obsessed Tech wouldn't have gone straight to the press and their fans with that story to try and get us to give in and play them. It's what they want more than anything else.

This post says a lot more about you than it does about Tech.

There was some discussion, we decided it wasn't a great move. Not a big deal.

If you don't understand why Joey is doing this in the media, you don't know a lot about this business of college football.

They did the same thing with Texas and they'll do it again if another big name passes.

Pipe down, lol.

They have zero to lose by using the media like this other than maybe a smaller P4 program takes a chance and it helps both sides.

Your source is "trust me bro" so you are the one that needs to pipe down

Such a low IQ fanbase.

MSU players were caught betting around $70 on NFL and NBA All Star Weekend.

Sorsby bet like $90,000, including bets on his own team.

In the mind of a Tech fan, the exact same thing!

Tech has been ridiculed for their laughably soft schedule. The sips coach called them out specifically for their laughably soft schedule. Which lead to the techtards doing the chihuahua yapping at great danes from behind a glass door bit, because they knew there was no way the door would ever open.

We do not have a soft schedule. In fact, we have a very hard schedule, with 8 or 9 opponents who could go 12-0 against tech's schedule.

But here's a good one for you. According to your "source"... The powers that be at A&M looked at tech's laughably soft schedule, and our big boy schedule, and said, "Hey, why don't we buy out and cancel a home game that's already under contract, so we can help tech out with their strength of schedule by playing them away from home in a game that would have no possible benefit for A&M".

One perspective is on the actual Tech coaching staff… one is… you. lol. I look forward to your logical reasoning.

If you were stuck in a lower conference, creating a weaker strength of schedule, what would you do to try to improve your strength of schedule? What's the logical thing to do bud?

Sweet dog picture though man, really drives your point home.

Ok! Good talk.

Like I said in my first post, it doesn't matter to me if you believe me or not. You'd have to wonder what my motivation for defending a school I never went to and could not care less about.

It seems reasonable for a good team from a bad conference to try to find ways to improve their SoS.

It's also reasonable that we have no good reason to play them given our SoS.

I look silly because…. I dared to repeat what a Tech staff member said occurred? Or objectively I have the ability to look at 2 football teams, one of which may arguably be better than us this season?

The real answer to why I'm in the minority is because I didn't immediately comply with the narrative that Texas A&M would never be the school to decline to play Tech.

The perceived superiority of our school to Tech could be based on plenty of things off of the field, but they're at worst competitive with us on the field and at best (for them) certainly able to beat us.

Some of the people yelling at me on this thread were simultaneously pissed that I said it was us that walked away but also yelling about how we don't need to play them and they're beneath us, etc.

The reason it makes a lot of sense to walk away from a proposed non conf game with them is precisely because they're really not beneath us and quite possibly could beat us.

For what it's worth, a home and home was being discussed, not a neutral site game.

If discussing college football objectively makes me "silly" because I don't immediately fall in line with our superiority complex when it comes to Tech… ok. Got nothing else for you.

The reason you're in the minority is because you came here with a story where A&M was offering to play an 11th P4 game in 2027 after NC State cancelled on Tech 4 months ago. That did not happen.

Nobody is mad that A&M decides the game isn't worth playing in the future, because it isn't. All teams are moving away from tough OOC games if they can. They're mad at the absurd delusion that A&M should play 11 P4 games next year.

Maybe I was unclear. Most of the original shots at me were questioning the authenticity of where my information was coming from (a Tech coach), while claiming "logic" was why A&M would never even discuss scheduling Tech because of some perceived conference superiority.

That's a separate point from the P4 total number of games argument you're making, which I don't disagree with. That is the salient point here and not one they were originally making.

Bottom line is if the operative assumption is the person I know on the inside is lying, agree to disagree and we'll see ya.

That's an easy answer. I wouldn't have scheduled my nonsense non conference schedule in the first place. I wouldn't wait until 2026 to work on my 2027 schedule and if I got caught with my pants down like Tech, I would be too embarrassed to call programs like A&M, Texas, and USC who handled their business years ago like adults. Why is this Tech Coach just now coming to the conclusion the B12 is weak? Their 2026 non conference schedule of ACU, Oregon St and Sam Houston? That was scheduled years ago? What does he have to say about that?

They could just be incorrect. They could believe, or been told, what they are saying. But it could still be wrong.

It makes zero sense for A&M to give up a home game merely to play tceh. Especially after we just got out of a better deal with Arkansas.

Ehh. These deals are a negotiation and I am sure "who said no" is a matter of perspective. From what I have seen, Tech says we walked and A&M hasn't publicly addressed it. Ultimately it really doesn't matter but some folks on here are acting like it's illogical for us to consider playing them, much less walk from the deal.

Some posters on here have acted like Joey is ridiculous to use the media to drive a narrative about his program - - this has been done for years in a lot of different ways, particularly with regard to the playoff. There is essentially zero actual risk to their season in the long run and it's a solid branding pivot to the villian thing even if in reality nobody from the Big 10 or SEC really cares about them. It's better than leaving the story at "wow Tech really screwed up the Sorsby situation".

My guess is the source of amg's information is the water boy or the washroom attendant. Or, as they are called at Tceh, the Hydration Coach and the Uniform Logistics Coach. Any rational human can understand that A&M wouldn't reach out to schedule a game and then decline the game - that's completely absurd. Unless A&M was pulling a Lucy on Tceh's Charlie Brown with a massive "Psyche" move, which actually would be really funny. F Tceh.

Offering to play a game in the next 2 years when our schedule is already full and we can't make it work does not mean we declined to play them. If technical wants a home-home series that is fine but it will be 4-6 years away at best.

Personally I think it's BS click-bait, they floated this same story last year with cow as the opponent that declined them. Technical isn't serious about upgrading their non-con schedule, everyone knows it. 2026 will be the second year in a row technical does not play a P4 non conference opponent and they don't have a P4 non conference opponent scheduled until 2030…. Wow. And their conference schedule full of secondary directional, city named and 3rd tier isn't much better.
