You can set your watch to write ups and nothing but compliments to A&M's coach the first two to three years. I'll start with Sherman-First two years-He is changing culture in such an awesome way that he made the clocks digital to demand being on time and being accountable. Then Sumlin-first two years-He gets kids today and THAT'S what we need. He knows their music, identifies with them and just lets them play! Then Jimbo..Boy, the slobber fest was really on with Jimbo in his first three years. HE was the one changing culture and making it not like it used to be. He was on ESPN show-Finebaum, Marty and McGee, etc and all they could talk about was how "A&M just looks like a different program with Jimbo in charge. They are disciplined and play with pride, toughness and grit. I'm not saying Elko isn't a phenomenal coach but the generic speak of coach changing culture, demanding accountability, and doing away with entitlement is just that-generic and said about every coach across the country in their first 2-3 years..

I agree with this. Except for the Sherman part. Sherman never got a slobber fest.

Actually I take that back. His came in 2015 or so when Sumlin only won because of Sherman's recruits or something like that.

And it's interesting you didn't mention Fran. Franchione's slobber fest was probably the most intense on any in the last 25 years and lasted the longest.

Yep!!!
The two most dangerous domestic terrorists groups in the USA are the modern democrat party and the main stream media.

Absolutely. I remember the slobber fest of Fran really well. I just didn't want to go back too far to avoid a TLDNR situation..One could easily go back to Jackie and probably further. Also, it's not unique to A&M. I believe these write ups are paid for by the schools. In fact, I remember reading one about Sumlin in his first year at Arizona. Insert a Totbush WOW.

I don't know about that re: Fran "slobber fests."

I've been watching since the Sherrill years, and I remember the wheels coming off the Fran regime with a 4-8 in year one, including the 77-0 beat down in Norman. (The Sooners scored all 11 of their touchdowns BEFORE the 4th quarter started.)

If anyone WAS clinging to Fran after that and he 7-5 follow up it was more likely coming from a place of not wanting to acknowledge a terrible mistake than any slobber fest. There were PLENTY of clingers hanging on too long to that guy.

The Fran slobbering was very intense, although brief. Poaching him from Bama was a massive coup.

"A better game day coach than Bob Stoops and a better recruiter than Mack Brown" - some sportswriter in Fort Worth.
And who could forget "Frantastic!". I remember billboards in Houston over the summer before his first season shouting that.

But that stopped quick once that first season got underway. After 77-0 everyone tried to forget. Then it morphed to "Be of good cheer"
