I don't watch and enjoy College Football anymore for the saem reason I do not watch and enjopy the NFL, it is not fun watching a bunch of paid putzes play a game when I know tht I am goig to have to go back to the meat grinder to pay my bills, and all they have to do is show up. Back in the day rivalry games meant something, conference standings and championships meant something, bowl games were still viewed as rewards for hard work and the loyalty of the players, coaches, and fans was to the school and each other. None of that exists anymore, the transfer portal, the NIL, the monetization of everything has ruined what was once an open and inviting and uniting experience for a campus. No one can say wait until next year anymore, becuse who knows what next year will bring, a different set of mercenaries is about it. Everyone from the coach on down to the players plays for noothing more than the name on the back of the shirt and the number of digits on the bills in their wallet, has nothign to do with what is on the front aymore, has nothing to do with an opportunity to truly be a part of something special anymore. You watch there will be exits left and right from this team in the portal seeking the higher paycheck.
Look at the Women's Volleyball team, most of those ladies have been around their entire career and they play for something truly special today, the track team look at their success the last few years again not much money there to interfere, women's soccer same thing, those are the teams to support. These are the teams that stillhave heart, still have loyalty to the school, and still reflect what it means to be an Aggie.
Football, baseball, even basketball, nothing but pros anymore, they do not need my support, they are getting paid to do their thing. That is why I did not bother to watch a single game, nor will watch a single game all the way through for those sports again. DOn't watch any pro sports either for that matter. They don't need my support, theya re getting paid. I may not have stuck around long enough to graduate, but between the corps and the rugby team and bonfire cuts, stacks, and yes a near fall of the stack my last year on it, Silver Taps, "Pick it UP" when someone dropped a tray, frisbee on the drill field across from the MSC, midnight movies in the Grove, the people and the attitude of the school in those days, my time at TAMU was valuable and meaningful to me and that is what I will support. I paid my way for those experiences. The players, the coaches, they get paid to enjoy those experiences and yet give nothing in return to enhance those experiences. So in the grand scheme of things **** EM.
