A 3 point win at home in the first game of the year when a Qb is making his first start isn't the end all be all. Especially when you hung on for dear life once that said qb settled down

It's almost like, every head to head game doesn't necessarily have the best team win. Thats sports?

At best they are damn near identical tiers, but my money would be on ND if they played next week. Oh and Vegas would have them a good TD favorites on a neutral field

The "experts" who are saying our schedule was easy are the same ones who had Texas #1, Penn State #2, Notre Dame #6, LSU #9, Florida #13, South Carolina #15 in the preseason and Missouri ranked when we played them. It's gotten to the point with me that I usually only watch games. Sports journalism has reached the very bottom.

I mean ND is probably an accurate ranking. So was Missouri being ranked fwiw

What?
Miami is a much better team than lsu and Mizzou.
Thats not even a question.

I know Miami beat ND but they are not better than ND.
LOL. Now tell us how we're actually better than texas.

Have you guys played sports before? When you have two good teams, or players in an individual sport, you shouldn't win 100 out of 100 times. There are factors inside of each game that make or break that game individually. In my opinion, if we played Texas 100 times, Texas would probably win 55-60 of them. I think if ND and Miami played 100 times, ND would probably win 60-70 of them.

You conveniently left the end of my post out where I say I agree that given the head to head matchup and them being next to each other in the rankings, you have to give the edge to Miami otherwise there's no point in playing the games.

LOL….losing to a team means they're better than you. There's no "well…if we played 100 times, we'd win 51, so we're really better than you". That's the dumbest, weakest smack talk ever.

A truly absurd take. That isn't how sports work

Why do you think sports like the nba that can play more than one game a week play 7 games? They know damn well one game doesn't really determine who is better

Football doesn't have that luxury but is the same concept

We have 2 common opponents. We looked about the same as they did against Florida and Norte Dame. Their games were much more defensive than ours though

Highlighting how easy other teams' schedules are doesn't change the fact that ours is also easy. Still, this is a game we should take care of, and we've had a very advantageous schedule this year.

We would not have lost to Louhvulle and SMU. Miami would have lost to tesass in Austin.

We will know Saturday of course which team wakes up 1st and how they react in 2nd half

Per ESPN Strength of Schedule for Playoff Teams (excluding JM & Tulane)

Alabama - 6
Oklahoma - 12
Oregon - 16
A&M - 18
Georgia - 20
Ohio State - 27
Indiana - 30
Ole Miss - 40
Miami - 45
Texas Tech - 54

I don't know if that includes Conference Championship Games.

Thank you for posting this. I was going to comment that the only schedules weaker than Tceh's in the Playoffs were Tulane and JMU. This verifies that fact. And is largely why I think Tceh gets pounded.

They are better than you that day, for sure. Sometimes the lesser team wins. That is sport. Scottie Scheffler is the best golfer in the world, yet he does not win every single tournament.

I'd probably say the New York Giants weren't better than the undefeated Patriots yet they won the Super Bowl.
Cool. So if we win the national title this year we're going to have to put an asterisk by it so we can let everyone know we think texas is better than us.

Miami would have lost to LSU at Baton Rouge when they still had something to play for.

I find it interesting that no one is talking about the facts that I posted about thier last five opponents.

Did you watch tech? I hate tt, but they have a really good defense. I don't think their offense is good enough to win it all, but odds that they get pounded are really slim bc their defense is so good.

I watched Tceh against BYU x2, Utah, Az State, and UH. They haven't played a team all year with the talent level at the skill position players that Oregon has. Their defense has been very good against ****ty offenses. I don't see them holding up against an offense like Oregon.

When? When they played, yes. Now, 4 months later, who knows and it doesn't matter. But that's not what is being debated here. Some of these guys don't want to acknowledge that a real-time win means the winning team is better. They want to say "well the loser is actually better because if they played 100 times the loser would win 51 times". It's asinine. You play the games for a reason. Only an imbecile runs around arguing "even though we lost we're the better team".

The difference is that every crap record team we played this year has more talent than 80% of the Big 12 or ACC teams. The reason they ended with bad records was due to crap coaching/losing the team. We were still lining up against elite athletes, which is something Miami cannot say.

Yep

Miami had essentially played garbage since the nd game

None of the teams they have played since that game have as much talent as any sec team we've faced

I think there's going to be a "shock" factor for Miami when they step on the field with us and have to face the speed, size and strength we bring for a full 60 minutes

Remains one of the dumbest posts I've ever seen.

Shock factor. Lmao at thinking patches on a jersey give you superpowers.

Your trenches on both sides are garbage. Zuhn is on a milk carton somewhere and the almighty Howell had 2 whole tackles.

You must not have watched Tceh play. That team is good. Their defense is very strong. Their weakness is their QB who isn't bad but isn't great. Their wins were 20+ points. They beat good BYU twice and Utah. Their schedule is weak but when they played against good teams they still won convincingly.

Tech has 3 wins against at the final Top 25 teams. A&M only had 1 win.

Tceh is better than any of us want to admit. They legit can win with that defense.

Good BYU? Who did good BYU beat? Who did Utah beat?

That entire conference was treated equal to SEC and BIG 10. They aren't. Not even close. I saw a good Tech team out-talent a G5 league. They might be successful in the playoffs, but they haven't faced a team even halfway as good or explosive as Oregon. That star LB is going to be in for a rude awakening when his DL can't eat all the blocks and he actually has to fight through a 4 or 5* 300+ lb future NFL player for the first time all season.

We just lost to a team that lost to SMU. Let that sink in. We didn't score a TD while Tulane and JMU did against better opponents. Not sure we really should be criticizing other teams after we sat in a social media circle and patted our own backs all year just to see it all crumble embarrassingly after tu exposed us and Miami spotlighted it.

Let's see how Tceh does against Oregon and revisit this friendly chat.

You are free to be miserable and talk up a team from a glorified G5 league full of rejects no other conference wanted.

Like I said, they might be good and might do good. It doesn't change the fact that they haven't played a quality team all year. Their entire season is hung on beating teams full of mormon 2* recruits.. teams who beat absolutely nobody. They lost to a team Mississippi State beat. How we ended the season has nothing to do with the fact that Tech was not held to the same standard as any other one loss team, and will be playing their first game against an opponent with equal talent all year.
