Y'all know Johnny had more rushing yards the year he won the Heisman than Jeremiah Love for this season?

Oh and he had 3700 yards passing. Hard to find a better season by any player in CFB history. This Heisman year has been very underwhelming.

Too bad he didn't stay four years. He would've been the greatest college QB of all time and it wouldn't be close

that team was playing lights out at the end of the year.

The loss to florida in game 1 aborted our closest season to a natty in my life time

No, sorry to disagree. He had already started to implode after that Heisman year. No way he coulda kept his head on straight enough to attain GOAT status

his nfl line and greatest receiver would have been gone had he stayed and the sumlin decline was already starting

Sumlin declined because all his elite players were gone. Especially Johnny.

They're the only reason Sumlin ever looked good.
No, I don't care what CNN or Miss NOW said this time

Started to implode? He would've won the heisman again if they hadn't tried to make him a pocket passer. His passer rating went way up but he ran less.

We still had three NFL OLmen, Josh Reynolds, RSJ, Malcolme Kennedy, Trey Williams, Tra Carson, and Speedy Noil.

If we had Johnny another year, we would've been great.

Implode??? What are you talking about? He improved as a passer, still had over 700 rushing yards, and was invited to the Heisman season that year.

Disagree. I think you have to win a championship to be included in the GOAT talk.

Marino is up there in NFL but his lack of a ring keeps him out of the league with the greats.

Guess I'm referring to the whole package, on and off the field. Sadly, we'll never know.

Sumlin and Fran could have a great debate about who the bigger fraud was.

Spoiler alert: it was the boosters.

Tens or hundreds of posters will reeeeeeeeeeee at this and say " nO OtHeR CoAcH WoUlD HaVe sTaRtEd jOhNnY MaNzIeL!!!"

But the younger kids now days who didn't see him play, tell me he only won it because of Mike Evans.

He was absolutely the most exciting player I have ever seen play. I could not wait for Saturdays that year.

Extremely weak Heisman candidates this year. Johnny is the best college football player of all time.

Top 5 college QB of my adult life but there are some all-time guys I can't put him ahead of. Elway comes to mind off the top of my head. Michael Vick as well.

Christian McCaffrey's senior year (2016) at Stanford wasn't his most productive rushing-wise due to a shift in usage, but he still had a massive year, finishing with
1,603 rushing yards and setting the NCAA record for all-purpose yards (3,864), proving his immense versatility, although he only had 2,019 yards total in his best season (2015) when he was primarily a runner, per NCAA.com, CBS Sports and StatMuse.
Key Rushing Totals & Context:
  • Senior Year (2016): 1,603 rushing yards.
  • Junior Year (2015): 2,019 rushing yards (NCAA single-season leader that year).
  • Overall Impact: While his 2015 rushing was historic, his senior year cemented his record for all-purpose yards, showing he was a unique weapon even when not leading in just rushing.
Wondering why he didn't win one his junior and senior

There was an article I read a couple years ago talking about how Jonny was a total ****up with the browns, never looked at the playbook, was always hungover, and actually crushed a couple of great NFL defenses without putting any of the work in.

Of course it was unsustainable and he flamed out, but the idea that his success here was the o line and Evans is nuts. Jonny is the best college football player I've ever seen.

I get the love for JFF but you gotta take off the maroon shaded glasses.

The best player has to win a Natty. Period.

Fake news. Just proves he was on a great team. Plenty of manager qbs have won the MNC.

Of all the great games - the upset of Bama, the Hurricane game, the Duke bowl game - that Cotton Bowl where he just went stupid on OU - probably helps I was in the end zone and got to watch all those plays develop.

I was also at the 2013 Cotton Bowl against OU and agree that JFF's performance was truly magical. I especially liked the touchdown run in which he pranced/hopped down the sideline into the endzone! However, I believe the comeback he engineered the next year against Duke in the Chick-fil-A (Peach) Bowl was even more special. I was at that game and will admit to being pretty low at halftime. But, Johnny was not to be denied in his last college game. He was a one of a kind college football player and still at the top of his game. I can't help but believe that his competitive spirit would have led him once more to excel had he stayed for two more years. We'll, unfortunately, never know.

I still think that Barry Sanders was the best NFL running back ever. If he had been in the game this millennium, he would have went to a top quality Superbowl contender towards the end of his career and won a Superbowl.

I am not saying that I believe that JFF is the best CFB ever. I'm just saying that I vehemently disagree with your statement.

That kid was a freaking mongoose. His special awareness was deity level.

I have never seen anyone with the ability to be one inch out of reach of every defender on the field so consistently. Pair that with his arm, his poise under pressure, and an offense that was specifically designed to take advantage of those unique combination of qualities, and you have a freaking amazing CFB season.

Don't completely disagree, but the second loss that season, to LSU, did more damage. If A&M wins that game they win the SEC west.

Nope.

Take a team of randos, and winning is life or death, there is zero chance I take Tebow or Burrow over 2012/13 JFF. Cam would be worth a discussion.

Exactly. That's why AJ McCarron >>> JFF

Dumb post is dumb. FB isn't basketball. One player can't carry the team. JFF almost did.

Exactly. Some truly mediocre QB's have super bowls rings. But somehow they're better than Marino? The QB is obviously a major piece of the puzzle, but Eli Manning only has two rings because those Giant defenses were terrifying. Trent Dilfer is the exact same.

Trophies determining GOAT status for QB should be dropped from the conversation, unless we're talking more championships by a massive margin ala Brady
