They should. I don't think Carthage has ever played a LA school.

Maybe the Ags should consider hiring Scott Suratt as OC. I'm not sure it translates to College but he is an offensive genius.

DeSoto's coach and his excitement or whatever that was, was very entertaining to watch on sports news last night. Haha. He almost gave himself a heart attack in the post game interview

Vandy beat us last year in the Championship Game. Classy bunch of players, was hoping to get a rubber match!

SLC has been the beneficiary of so many calls throughout the years. Sucks when it's on the other foot, ya?

Lived in Frisco since 2004 and Lone Star has moved further and further up for 8+ years and are a seriously great program now. And PJ Washington with the Mavs would have gone there as well if not for going to Findlay Prep his sophomore year in hs.

There's zero doubt about the Florida wideout or the quarterback. That QB has real star potential and already holds multiple offers from smaller schools.

Got to see Landen Williams-Callis from Richmond go against Boerne...5 star junior RB. Real deal. 5 TDs in the game.

Agreed. My wife graduated from Carthage in 1978. Her Dad was President of the school board for decades. Her younger sister is their new girls basketball coach.

The kicker had just missed an extra point with 35 seconds left that would have tied the game too!

Edit: I had to go look this up and see how they went from 1st and 10 to 4th and 40. I assumed the blue team had no timeouts. Why else would team in white go crazy after kneeling it on first and 10? Turns out, blue team had 2 timeouts left, and the penalty on white team stopped clock, and since it was after the play, the down counted. 2 more kneels, 2 more timeouts, and you set up a very un-clutch punt. The commentators called it a shank.

The last couple of years, some '80 guys have gotten together at Jerryworld to watch the state championship games. All of them. It's been a great chance to kick back and relax with some classmates. Six-man is a hoot if you've never seen it. We'll be congregating again this year, but our viewing will be cut short, as it seems some are making plans for something on Saturday. Still, it'll be a good way to get out of the office, turn off the phone, and burn a couple of PTO days.

For those that have gone to the championship games in the past, do they typically start at the listed time?

I was wanting to take our daughter to the Smithson Valley game which has a listed start time of 7pm

Yes, They have 4 hour time slots, so they are usually on time. It is open seating, so the earlier you get there the better seat.

Went and watched Stephenville play Celina. Great game. Stephenville made enough mistakes to lose it; took their first lead of the game with two seconds left on the clock to win it.

Rumor is that was the game that will determine the state champion. Go Jackets.

Southlake Dad here. Yes they got the call right, he was down; so why would it suck. DeSoto didn't get the beneficiary of anything except a badass RB and stellar goal line defense.

You seem bitter about something.

There is a belief amongst many that schools like SLC and Aledo get favors from the refs in these big games.

I know the guys on the crew that worked both the Aledo/Lone Star and SLC/DeSoto games (it was the same crew for both games). To suggest they played favorites is laughable. The "golden" teams in both games ended up losing.

EDIT: When you get to the semifinals, you are getting the best officiating crews from each chapter. these guys don't favor anyone. If you watched both games like I did, they just let the kids play. A lot of holding calls and ticky tacky stuff that may have been called in the regular season was ignored in the state semifinals.

The d-line was gassed. Only time they played an entire game all season was the first game against Ryan -- and that one stayed mainly in the middle of the field, so they weren't nearly as tired. Offense didn't help the cause.

Groce is the real deal, as is LSHS's sophomore QB.

So I was talking to another guy who saw the Aledo/Lone Star game and his question to me was: "What Texas high school player have you seen dominate a playoff game against a great team like Groce did?"

i had to think about it. Names I came up with:
