In this scenario, I'd say yes vs Ole Miss. But my understanding is CFP gets a lot of the ticket revenue so maybe they swap us with Ole Miss to give us the home game cause $$$

The other day I was arguing with people saying there was NO WAY we would play on the road.

However, looks like I could be wrong with the idiocy shown by the committee.

Never thought Tech would stay above us with a worse record and worse schedule. But the committee won't drop them below us if they lose. Also thought we had a good case to be ranked above Ole Miss or even possibly Oregon. But that didn't happen.

I feel like Georgia has improved and Alabama is maintaining status quo. Just my opinion. I also don't think the game will be particularly close (10+)

That wouldn't make sense to have conf champion below other conf team, IMO. They would have same record and split series but recency bias means T Tech should fall below BYU. If BYU wins conf championship.

Kirby is 1-7 against bama. For some reason his teams suck against them. I agree Georgia is playing well right now though.

Yeah, Bama has won 10 of 11 from Georgia, including beating them at home this year.

Because Georgia ran all over the 'sips, there's just no way

If BYU and Bama win, I very much think TT could (and SHOULD) fall just below us.

They would have 2 losses; our SOS is better. Can't see A&M at 9 for one 10 pt loss on road vs the #15 team.

.....but Committee IS STUPID, so who knows.

Agree. Only chance we have is a final reassessment by committee of Ole Miss versus Aggies and flipping with Ole Miss to 8 spot while Ole Miss gets the 9 spot.

Either way, with Bama and BYU wins tomorrow, we will be playing Ole Miss in my opinion.

Because the Conference Title games can only boost your resume not hurt it
They are playing an extra game by virtue of being the best in their conference.
I dont think BYU or Bama wins vaults either into the top 4 although Bama would have a case by having same record as Georgia and beating them twice.
But none of the 1 loss teams are jumping a team that loses in the conference title games unless one of them gets beat by 35 points

If BYU and Bama both win I could honestly see a world where we are ranked higher than Georgia & Tech because the committee just ranks all the 2 loss teams below the 1 loss teams.

I know they don't want to "punish" teams that play in the conference championship but I could see them making the argument they aren't really being punished because they are still in the playoff.

That said I really don't think BYU is going to win

0% chance that Tx Tech and Georgia fall below us even if both lose.
Yes it would be their 2nd loss but again..they played an extra game by making the conference title game.

No way a 1 loss team sitting at home this weekend moves ahead of either due to them having their 2nd loss from a conference title game.

There were also a lot of people on here, including Billy, claiming that 10-2 guaranteed us a spot in the playoff, PRIOR to playing South Carolina.

If we had lost to Samford alone we would have fallen out of contention. But combine that with a loss to Texas also, I don't know what these people are thinking.

Any combination of losing two of the last three games, and we would not be a playoff contender.

NOT necessarily true .... I think the indication was that a CCG loss would not cause a team to lose a spot in the playoff. a team will absolutely drop in the order.

That's not happening, but let's say it does. Then we would be put at eight if BYU went ahead of us and Ole Miss at nine because the NCAA wants the money from our bigger stadium.

Yeah - not sure if I care too much about playing OleMiss at home vs in Oxford. Should likely be a win after what they've been through. now - the 8/9 game roles into Ohio State. THAT sucks. so for that reason, I'd like to stay 7 or higher.

Now, selfishly I'd like home game for the Cstat economy.
