Aren't we assured that losing a CCG will not affect your standing for playoffs? This is the argument to not do away with the CCG's. If a CCG loser gets moved down what is the advantage of even playing the CCG?

BTW, I think you might be generally correct that a CCG loss can move a team down the ladder but this is not what was suggested by the committee.is approving this setup.

Recently the committee was asked about the loser of the CCG being dropped in the ranking. They had the chance to address this issue but skirted around it by saying the game was just another data point. I'd take that to mean that it all depends on which teams lose the CCG.

If TAMU beats Bama and UGA is 11-1, I think Indy sticks at 4. I dont think OM will be above Indy.

OM 11-1 with loss to a #8 bama
Indy 12-1 with loss to a #1 OSU

UGA gets the edge on OM because of previous ranking.

Will be rooting for Michigan this week in hopes the OP scenario is moot.

What would be the rationale for ranking Ohio State above an undefeated A&M? Why is everyone assuming that's a given?

Because they have been #1 every week and would have beaten #2.
