I love his attitude, unlike Walker.

It's fine, Parades seems like he could be flexible shifting around different positions (1B, 3B, DH)....I would love it if he could even play LF at least at home, or even 2B because I seriously can't imagine he's worse than Altuve there.

With all those positions available, being an "everyday" starter isn't really an issue. What's a bigger issue is the egos of Pena, Correa, Walker that all magically expect to play 162 games without any sort of injuries or setbacks...rest days are important.

So starting players shouldn't strive to play everyday? They ultimately will not, but I think the fans (and team) want that kind of attitude.

True but he does get hurt running the bases, holding a bat or sometimes just breathing. Using his logic I guess he should play LF but not hit or pinch run?

If I'm not mistaken most of his injuries seem to be from swinging a bat. So by his logic he should pitch

These are Yordan's career defensive splits. He is a top 10 player as DH. He's an MVP level player as a LF.

I'm in the minority but I play him in LF every time I can.

Not if the analytics shows it's bad for the team, no.

They probably should get a rest day every week

If no trade happens I don't see any other option. At least in home games he could play there, which gives you 81 DH starts for someone. At the very least it's the solution early season and maybe you revisit a trade in June or July.

What does that even mean? I don't recall it describing the pitch as a ball or strike, just location. Maybe I'm wrong.

Aren't all games on a delay because of sign stealing? How would teams benefit since challenges have to be made right away?

I don't think the Astros broadcast did it, but on national broadcasts they would have the hovering dot with speed and pitch type for a second after the pitch was caught.

Is there any causation in this? Are you just pointing at correlation?

I don't know the actual answer, but this in a vacuum isn't enough.

Some things that made be pause and consider it could impact.
We're more likely to play Yordan at home due to the small LF. Players play batter at home and he uses the short corners well.
Maybe there is an odd quick where he sees more RHP as the LF vs DH even though he hits LHP well.
Maybe the down 2025 is weighing down DH since he was playing thru an injury.

Yeah I don't know if the Astros local broadcast does it but some made a strike a solid dot and a ball just a circle outline.

I'm not implying anything, just posting the data. But it's not exactly a small sample size. It's pretty clear split. He's a better hitter when playing in the field. And it's not close.

I believe he has said he thinks he's a better hitter when he plays in the field. At least I recall a quote to that effect.

Maybe since he has more time to just be in his own head when he is DH and he overthink things? And when he's in the field he has less time to think about his next at bat so he hits more instinctively?

Could just be a mental thing

My first assumption was it would no longer show the dot of the pitch location

Buxton took a really team friendly deal to stay in Minnesota and is apparently very involved in the community there.

Imagine taking a pay cut to stay at your company and then finding out they were looking to move on from you a little bit later.

All that said he should keep this quiet, but I understand his frustration if he wanted to be a Twin for life.

You want guys to feel comfortable in your org and stay for life. JRam in Cleveland, Altuve in Houston, Judge in New York. These are special bonds and usually involved players taking team friendly deals. I don't think Buxton is asking for too much here.

Just booked flights and a hotel to DC. Going out there for the 4th of July and catching the Astros game on the 6th. Felt like an opportunity I couldn't pass up on with the timing of the Astros game and it being America's 250th. Everything was much more affordable than I thought it would be.

Anyone have some early advice for DC?

Last time there was a lockout, we went on to win the World Series

2027 World Series champs lock in that futures bet

Not sure how one can work exclusively somewhere yet be qualified with "most". Regardless, it just means Paredes at 2nd isn't in the plans.

If you change the bolding on the quote, you can come to a different conclusion. Just because Altuve will spend most of "his spring" at 2B doesn't mean Paredes won't get any reps there and won't play there some during the season. I doubt he plays there much, but he will probably play there some unless Mathews really takes a big step forward.

60% of the time, he plays 2B every time.
