We lack a killer instinct, team comes out flat for the second half second week in a row. Marcel is inconsistent in the passing game, some good and some bad. The secondary is still a question mark despite the claims that we improved there. The pass rush is starting to come on.

I agree, no killer instinct, perfect description! Ther is no team leadership.

SO, the resident badasses on here complaining ad nauseum after ever damn game strike me as a poor man's version of Al Bundy from Polk High- PROVIDED y'all ever even played a snap on the field; IF 'all did play, it was probably b/c your Daddy constantly badgered the coach, complaining their son wasn't getting more snaps &/or opportunities to "showcase their talent"- LOL!! What's even more pathetic is most of y'all who did play definitely "peaked" while playing on the high school JV squad, or worse, in the 7th or 8th grade!!

I say this because y'all remind me & others of the "rah-rah" dip****s who gave "150%" effort at all times, not to improve your skill set, but to kiss the coaches' asses!! Those of us who did start & play in high school &/or at the collegiate level can spot your kind a mile away! If we weren't making fun of y'all, you can bet we HATED y'all for your reckless habit of tackling way too hard during routine drills or with complete disregard of a coach's command to only give 50% effort while the starters are learning to implement new plays or schemes! Plus, y'all only ever played in games during mop-up duty &/or in some benign role like kickoff or PATs. Meanwhile, y'all were ignorant that your gigantic ******bag antics were the source of ridicule; y'all were literally a Temu version of Notre Dame's "Rudy" (who BTW was a moronic idiot that was mocked & considered a JOKE by his teammates despite Hollywood's contradictory, fantasy portrayal of a 'never say quit' hero)!!!

Unfortunately, y'all still carry that inferiority complex to this Forum, as evident by your critiques & criticisms of the team's play, as y'all seem incapable of ever saying anything positive &/or criticizing a specific player or play when it's obvious to others your observations are unfounded & many times completely wrong!!

I'll go on the record that SOMETIMES y'all are 100% justified; for example, last year's South Carolina game was an absolute abortion, ESPECIALLY the tackling!! BUT, for these past 2 games, they meant absolutely NOTHING, but that didn't stop y'all from pot banging &/or accusing others of sunshine pumping when your assessments were proven erroneous!!! In fact, after week one's victory, A&M didn't even move up in the rankings! For tomorrow's rankings release, I bet we remain in the exact spot as the prior week (UNLESS we jump ONE spot if a team ahead of us should falter, although I bet we still stay at 19/22 while those teams that do falter drop down but still are ranked higher than A&M).

THEREFORE, why in the hell do y'all do the same schtick after each & every game, even when we win? Would y'all prefer Elko & staff expose our playbook before playing a road game against Rudy's alma mater simply to run-up the score? Further, applying a risk vs. benefit analysis, if our guys were flying around with reckless abandon on EVERY play trying to "Boom-Stick" the opposing team to create a highlight reel, but in the process, suffer a season-ending injury, was it actually worth it- ESPECIALLY since the team hasn't had a single season in the past 4 or 5 years where we didn't lose a key contributor to injury!!! In fact, we apparently have some dip****s on the team that do the same crap I mentioned above since we've lost most of our players during practices instead of injuries sustained in games!!!

So, for the love of all things holy, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE stop the 'Negative Nancy' posts; they aren't productive since Elko & staff damn sure aren't consulting TexAgs' resident 'Hall of Fame' athletes for ideas, & the chances a player &/or their family reading an uninformed criticism from our resident Uncle Ricos could actually negatively impact their confidence. Those kids are sacrificing A LOT for YOUR entertainment, so why in the hell do you want to tear them down?!?! Seriously, give it a rest, or better yet, go get laid or buy a puppy if you're truly that unhappy watching Aggie football!!

(RANT OVER; I APOLOGIZE FOR THE LONG DIATRIBE, BUT THIS TIRED TREND AFTER EVERY FREAKING GAME FINALLY TRIGGERED ME!!)

The issue 2 of his best 3 games have been this year. And anything over 150 rating is a very good game.

He had 1 last year. I don't count LSU since he only threw 2 passes.

This seems to be a standard A&M team, indistinguishable from most other years, aside from having two really good receivers who seem to have a completely different mentality than the rest.

You dont think these 2 games you're referring to (this year) have anything to do with level of competition he's been against?

We did not dominate Utah State from start to finish, but our run defense was much better today. After we allowed 202 rushing yards on 33 carries (6.2 yards per carry) to UTSA, we held Utah State to 78 rushing yards on 35 carries (2.2 yards per carry). Still, I won't be surprised if we lost at Notre Dame by double digits next week.

Marcel, Moss and our receiving core are the strength of the team. If our D holds up, we can beat anybody. However, most of the teams on our schedule can beat us. Gets down to execution and desire. Let us hope for the best.
Maroon Dawn
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Every P5 has the formula to beat us now:

Run the ball on offense to keep it away from us and we simply can't stop you and will set the red carpet for you waltz into the EZ unopposed

Stack the box to take away our running game that relies on a bad O and one good RB. Force Reed to make passes longer than 15 yards. He's too slow to go through his progressions and misses wide open receivers….and that's when he's NOT pressured. Get some pressure on him and he falls apart completely.

It is still amazing that some people are simply happy with being 2-0 rather than expecting that we play better, execute better, and have overall better effort against an inferior team.

It's not just about winning against these lesser teams, it's about getting into game shape for our actual games against real opponents. These games don't really matter in the grand scheme of things. We are expected to be 2-0 right now, but if we want to achieve our actual goals we need to be a lot better than we are, despite being 2-0.

What a lot of people interpret as whining is actually just an appraisal of where we are today, despite being 2-0.
vander54
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Your assessment of our offense is off. Reed has been much better this year and he has been pretty quick going through his progressions. He also has been way more accurate on mid range and deep balls.

"Post Game Observations"? I'm feeling pretty good concerning where we are with our "program overhaul" early in year two. I saw improvement, as well as a lot of needed game experience for the 25' team. Looking forward to seeing their development over then next 10 games.

Of course Reed is in a learning curve, like every other player. Some more developed, over 2 off seasons, than freshmen. Glad we've played cupcakes up to this point. I'm concerned about maintaining containment, honestly I see better technique than last year though. Angles of pursuit seemed a bit better, all though ND will test that. The secondary is better, but have a long way to go. Will the Defensive Line continue to improve or "fold", later in the season, like last year's DL. Elko is on their butts when they slack off. It really appears like Elko/Klein are not showing their cards on offense. Looking forward to seeing more misdirection and a full out running team against ND.

Inconsistency on both sides of the ball is what concerns me the most

Donot think Reed has good awareness of how to sustain a drive meticulously…often times he plays too impulsively with a playful mentality - not a sign of a great/mature quarterback

I'm spending a fortune on tickets and flights into South Bend next week so feel it's okay to provide a little feedback:

QB/RBs play is fine and being constrained due to reduced playbook. Counters, zone read, and screens to RB will be on full display next week.

WRs play has been significantly upgraded and we are now actually capable of observing them drop catchable balls as the only complaint which in my opinion underscores the amount of improvement at QB.

OL looks average at best (possibly impacted by reduced play book) as evidenced by inability for 4th straight year of keeping our QB healthy and don't want to hear any crap about Marcel abandoning protection too soon; just keep the damn pocket spotless against inferior opponents.

DL basically dominated and played their tails off yesterday...wash, rinse, repeat.

Secondary continues to look good with an occasional lapse which is still dramatic improvement compared to last year.

Punt return team looks electric and capable of taking it to the house every time. Kicking looks shaky...why did we have to replace a kicker that makes extra points with someone that cannot is a head scratcher. This is an Elko problem and he better put Bond back in before it costs us a game.

LBs are the most experienced and continue to be the weakest unit of any position group. How about Taurean and Scooby give their mobile devices up this week as punishment for their consistently poor play? Accountability starts at the absolute top of the roster and if they are not holding themselves accountable, then no one else on the team will follow.

GOOD:

A. WR and RB are good
B. Reed has potentual to be great, but still far to go.
C. Defense is playing better (but....)
D. Backup QB has great potential down the line

BAD:

A. Kickers

B. OL is WEAK. They played better but two weeks in a row they have been unable to move inferior lines off the ball on short yardage. Biggest single embarassment of all our units. We cant just scheme around teams that are hungrier and stronger, and we'll play at least 5 of those.

C. Defensive backs making high school mistakes- not reading the OL and comoletwly missing their keys and letting them run free. see the first USt TD. Inexcusable.

D. We have big problems on the corner with our DE and CBs working tigether to contain the wide runs.

E. a certain socalled speedster needs to catch better.

F. If our Swede TE is not featured as much as Kelce
or Gronkowski in the next few games- Klein is an idiot. He has GREAT hands and size and can move. Between him and iur two stud WRs, and our RBs, even a team with our weak OL should be a NIGHTMARE. for any D.
Marcel needs to get his reads down- he is too sped up.

The thing that bothers me the most is the mentality of this team. Just low effort from all but a few guys. No apparent desire to dominate or even finish the game. They will make a good play, the entire team will pat themselves on the back and celebrate and then follow that up with 3 low effort plays.

Its almost like giving the kids massive paydays at 18 years old kills the drive to push themselves

That's been a hallmark of our defense for years, minus a couple of good seasons under Jimbo. If I was Elko I'd tell them to stop celebrating routine tackles until they can actually contain a ****ing offense for 4 quarters.

Not really. It happens to teams every year who don't play any real competition until multiple weeks into the season.
