And their fans own it. It's a huge difference

When the news came out about our big spending for the 22 class a large fraction of the Aggie fanbase acted like we're above that. It was all fake news and we defended the university saying athletes choose A&M for the culture and not the money
There is also a big difference in how it is treated in the media and on social media.

When we were accused of dropping $30mil on the '22 class, somehow we were bad guys, ruining the sport, and a ton of negativity is thrown A&M's way.

Texas does it, no one bats an eye. They're the cool guys.

Their fans are morons and act like complete asshats on social media.

Not sure if this is old news…but I seem to remember A&M getting a lot of crap for pushing back on the same rumors..

This is the way. If you're going to get paid, you need to pay your tuition so the kids on equestrian or tennis or soccer or diving can have their 'ship

Scholarships are limited by roster per sport. A football player getting a scholarship has zero bearing on whether a tennis soccer or diving student gets a scholarship as A&M is using full roster scholarships for all.

We either need to get in or get out, but the sips are embracing the current system. Its beginning to look like our bigs are managing their expectations.

There's no need to spend like that when your objective is to only win 7 or 8 games.

NFL salary cap is 280 million. Why is 40 million too much for college football?

Sports are lucrative in America. Why shouldn't the guys generating the revenue get some of the money?
Because the NFL only has 32 teams and they are the premier league for the sport.
Just the SEC and B1G combined have more than 32 teams and several of those have very small followings.

Even if "college" football was pared down to say just 40 or so "Big/Rich" schools that wanted to participate, the fact that it would now be just an NFL minor league with no real affiliation to the schools other than the name, would cause interest to wane and TV revenue to decline. Then, you would basically be asking boosters of the school to pony up to cover the shortfall to pay players that have no affiliation with the school.

I just think that college football not really being associated with a school and its alumni will start to garner interest levels that the UFL and all the other minor leagues that have tried to survive did.
This. May as well go watch usfl
USFL doesn't have loyal constituents. Major NCAA programs do and they have slick marketing campaigns and marketable media rights. USFL doesn't.
