Recruiting outside the top 5. Honestly no shame in that. Agree with the tweet. Impressive especially considering the coaching change.


Issue is getting that talent to have on field success. Weren't we top 5 in composite talent/recruiting rankings for our 2024 team roster?

Clemson gave Dabo time and were rewarded with 2 titles.. with average recruiting classes that were ranked outside of the Top 15. Amazing

Hard to get excited about it really. Next year is 7-5, 8-4 at best. Still have holes in our roster and I don't think we have an elite coaching staff either.

Clemson had a habit of getting a bunch of guys to stay for a 5th year so their recruiting classes tended to be smaller (< 20) which hurt the recruiting ranking. But they were still getting plenty of studs.And they weren't a "young" team either.

Yep and its why Bud Elliot is so big on Blue Chip ratio. When looking at that since 2011 no team has had a blue chip ratio below 52% (Clemson). Michigan was at 53% last year

Im glad that we are settling for strong effort from coaches now.

I think it's best for everyone if we go into next year with really low expectations.

That's presented like year one is a handicap when in fact it is a luxury where you can recruit on rainbows and unicorns. string a few more 8-and-5's together and it will just get harder and harder.

Sounds like our typical middle of the road effort

This is what I told posters extremely worried about Elko's recruiting. When's the last time we consistently outside the top 10, 15? What did the highest ranked class of all time get us?

the biggest problem and the biggest gap is not between a&m's recruiting rankings vs the top competitor recruiting rankings.

it's between a&m's recruiting rankings and the grand canyon between those and a&m's post-season rankings (or lack thereof.)

I wasn't excited about going through a rebuild this year, honestly surprised.
I'm not excited about 2025, but I expect to see enough improvement to be excited about 2026.

I am expecting a floor of 7-5 and a ceiling of 9-3 with likely road losses at Notre Dame, LSU, and Texas. The 5 road games at Notre Dame, Arkansas, Missouri, LSU, and Texas will make or break our season.

Not to mention, our schedule is very unbalanced with 3 straight SEC home games against Auburn on 9/27, Mississippi State on 10/4, and Florida on 10/11 before a stretch of 3 straight SEC road games against Arkansas on 10/18, LSU on 10/25, and Missouri on 11/8 in span of 4 weeks. With that schedule, I think we will have a floor of 7-5 and a ceiling of 9-3 with likely road losses at Notre Dame, LSU, and Texas.
