Let O'neill cook
It's also hard to tell how much play calling plays into the lack of explosive plays as well. I started off as a Klein hater, but I'm more agnostic watching the season play out. There are some valid excuses this year (first year QB who didn't get 1st team reps until mid-way through season, mediocre receiving corps). Next year I want to see Klein spam the RPOs and try create more angles for vertical shots. There will be far fewer excuses next year.njohn87 said:
We didn't really offer any vertical downfield threat season, but it was tough to gauge how much of that was due to limitation on Reed's part and how much was on the lack of talent at receiver. My hunch is that it was a bit of both, but we're shaping up to have a much better receiving room next season, so we should find out.
It's not like we have to run the run and shoot, but if opposing defenses had to worry about Reed going over the top even a little bit, it would really open up the offense.

People blaming Reed for our losses are just dumb. We need to get better as a team. Auburn and USC were definitely not on Reed.
South Carolina a combo of the defense nit being able to tackle, dumb GameDay coaching by Elko and awful 4 and 1 calls by Klein. Of course could have been better but the other things I mentioned were worse.
tu just dominated our lines. Hard to win when you can't run the ball at all and can't stop the run

Reed had an impressive Freshman season. I expect him to work really hard in the offseason and have a big step forward in 2025. I'm not sure why TexAgs is ready to give up on him.

53.1 vs South Carolina
67.5 vs Auburn
59.4 vs texas
75.7 vs Southern California
What are we talking about here? It's not like he's had to run for his life. Good god. These are awful QBR numbers.

I just hope he improves his view of the field.

That's what gets me, at the end of the day winning is the most important metric to measure for a QB. The last 4 games after teams had tape on him we had 4 losses, didn't throw for over 300 yards in any of those games I believe. Team rushing wasn't what it needed to be either
