Here are a few stats

Since taking over QB1 a second time, (after LSU)

241 yards/game passing
64.2% completion
293 total yards/game
75.6 QBR (#21 out of all QBs)
Passer Rating 142.1 (120-130 is average)

I just hope he improves his view of the field.

And did it without a #1 or #2 RB

Firmly believe he's a QB with enough talent around him, he can lead us to the playoffs.

Reed is gonna be a stud. In the next year or two his development is gonna skyrocket.

This is the biggest one to me. And frankly not exactly the cleanest pockets. And no real hot route runner to get open quick.

And even with a couple not great games finished the season #20 QBR rating. Ewers sits at #29 for reference.

I think it was 21 but I'll double check and post it in my OP.

People blaming Reed for our losses are just dumb. We need to get better as a team. Auburn and USC were definitely not on Reed.

South Carolina a combo of the defense nit being able to tackle, dumb GameDay coaching by Elko and awful 4 and 1 calls by Klein. Of course could have been better but the other things I mentioned were worse.

tu just dominated our lines. Hard to win when you can't run the ball at all and can't stop the run

We've already greatly improved WR so that will help him a lot.

OL improvement and a healthy RB room are vital. If the chips fall where they should then Reed will make big strides next season. OL will be the determining factor in all though.

Reed was solid his first year. Arguably one of our top players this year and yet some are trying to blame him for losses. Give me a break.

Just get his pass/rush set equal and I'm really liking his abilities

The drive to take the lead towards the end of the game was very promising for next season and also was impressive that he didn't fold. He needs to work on his fade routes and checking off receivers, which that will come with experience. I do like the fact that the line looks to be all coming back and the receivers looked to be an improvement on what we had. Sometimes I enjoyed Kleins play calling and other times it's fire the guy, but he's not the reason we lost the other night. Better players make for better play calls.

I don't see much oline improvement happening. Hopefully the overall offensive unit and ability to scheme a lot of things with multiple weapons can overcome until we win enough and win big games to really recruit the top tier Oline.

He needs to

1) be a play maker (not very goo right now)
2) down field pass accuracy beyond 20 yds
3) be properly used as a dual threat (not a pocket passer)

4. Identify and fix "tells" with his feet pre-snap.
5. Work on crossing route accuracy (tends to throw behind the receiver).
6. Not on him, but I feel snaps are too predictable (always on clap 2); change this now and again so the DL doesn't know when to key off.

He made very freshman mistakes. I believe Olin said 3 of his 4 interceptions were on 1st down. Trying to force a throw instead of just throwing it away and live to fight another down. Losing track of down and distance comes with being a freshman.

If you are starting a Fr at QB them things have not gone according to plan

Reed played well but the Ags lost some too many close games We needed the team to be a just a little better and we we are 10-3 it's not all on Reed that we couldn't get those 2 extra wins. Being QB part of it is always on you

He needs to lead the team to wins.

Wins should be the mark, not stats.

Winners win.

Teams rally around winners,

The last 4 games have been disappointing.

Reading his stats are not very comforting when I look at his win vs loss column.

I saw a lot of missed opportunities that would have turned a loss into a win.

Marcel Reed has basically solidified himself as QB1 next year. He has a whole offseason to get better and so does the coaching staff designing plays for him

Those loses are not on Reed. He can only do so much. We all saw the defense give those game away.

Reed has displayed some really weird accuracy issues this year. Several misses/wide throws on the easier passes, but can also thread the needle on other more difficult throws. Not consistent with the deep ball accuracy either.

Also appears to not see the whole field, and at times, he doesn't even look. Hope that's a fixable issue over one offseason.

Things seem to break down for him when he has to make more than 1 decision post-snap. Could be chalked up to him being young, but that absolutely must be fixed.

Definitely a warning sign that he and the offense were completely shut down for the 2nd half against SC and the whole game against Texas. Also not good that Reed hasn't displayed a high-end passing attack, even against NMSU when it appeared the coaches were trying to make that happen.

It's not all on Reed that we lost the games we did, but a few of them did come down to the wire. It's not hard to imagine that if he had been a little smarter with the ball, been ~20% more accurate, or would've scanned the whole field on a few key plays, we would've won a few more games.

All in all, I hope O'Neill has developed enough to give us a 3 way competition (Reed, O'Neill, and Zeno) for QB1 this spring. Let the best man win, and let's hope it's a guy that can help generate an explosive passing offense

Thought he looked better in the bowl game. Seemed to be going through progressions and finding the check down.

I'd expect offense to improve next year with returning starters on OL, better WRs from portal, and getting the RBs back.

Defense… I trust Elko to fix it. He got better every year here as DC, but there a lot of work to do.

For the most part I saw progress with Reed after the LSU game. Just take a look at were he was in the first couple games (against weaker opponents) to where he is now.

Reed had an impressive Freshman season. I expect him to work really hard in the offseason and have a big step forward in 2025. I'm not sure why TexAgs is ready to give up on him.
