Watching this stuff unfold is almost as fun as watching "college football" itself.

There hasn't been "college football" for a couple of years now. It's all NFL-lite without the salary cap.

Thus my quotation marks around "college football". You know, the same quotation marks you used to denote sarcasm. I can use them, too, and did it first.

Surely there's something in there that gets them off the hook if he decides to suck halfway through the season
That's the problem it can't be pay for play so your locked in. Not saying it's all true but the contract itself can't involve any pay for play. He could be a 0 effort guy never see the field and still get whatever he was offered. The players hold all the power.

NIL prices keep going up. Duke just paid 8mil for the Tulane QB over 2 yrs.

Was friends with a girl that worked and lived at the funeral home in Bryan. We'd party in her little upstairs apartment, get off of our faces and then wandered the funeral home in the middle of the night. Used to freak us out.

Give the kid a break. Would you want to live in Lubbock? He's lived in that sandbox for a year and he wants out. tech has never won an outright conference championship in their history. he is their one and only five star player ever signed and there's a reason for that. Let's see what Elko can do with him.

Problem is he showed up and impressed nobody on the Tech staff. It happens every cycle to some highly rated recruits.

Micah Hudson was one of the highest rated receivers ever recruited at Tech. He was expected to have some impact in the passing game, even though a Freshman. He played in 8 games as opposed to 8 of 18 receivers that played and played in all 12 games. His average gain per reception per game was 15.38 yds and ranked 6th on the roster. In total receptions the receivers ahead of him totaled 84% of the receptions and there were 7 of them. His individual total on receptions was 2.5%. He had no TD receptions and the team had a total of 30. So, for whatever reason, he had negligible impact for the team. His speed in the 100m is in the fastest 2%, so I would not think speed is an issue. For whatever reason Tech did not keep him, I don't know. There is talk about route running, Hopefully whatever the problems that may exist, I hope Elko and his staff can help the young man and he can be productive for our team and program. God Speed Micah.

Our maroon blinded fans wont want to beleive, but he was an attitiude problem At tech. He was dinged in spring and didnt play much but also didnt bother to learn the playbook. Came into fall ill prepared and didnt work hard.

We can hope he changes here with new scenery and a year of maturity.

But he was an attitude problem and a crappy teammate.

Level 2 source from Temple area that knows him and TTU Fb.

Does anyone really know what the NiL money is? Remember the UNLV QB that bolted during the season because they didn't pay him the $100k he thought he was promised? That's a lot less than a the numbers being thrown around, and he didn't even get it. The collective said that everyone on the team was getting a standard 3 or 4 K a month. Not bad for a college kid, but way below the big money numbers that people are talking about.

My guess it's only the really big programs that are funding huge money, and there aren't that many of them that can do it.

O I believe you I follow enough of recruting and football to know a player like him at tech not playing is a red flag. Most of the time smoke means fire if you see enough of it. If he was at Ohio state and had those stats i wouldnt worry but him being at Tech and being the highest paid player on the roster he had a problem somewhere. Now new staff new expectations he gets a mulligan and can try again.

Does this site still have purists who think NIL is actually separate from paying to play?
Yes. But the notion no person who owns a business that can benefit from marketing with the use of name, image, and likeness of a college's football player because they serve that town isn't a reasonable thing to regulate even if it clearly benefits the school.

It requires a collective bargaining agreement to limit this and protect the NCAA and member institutions from anti-trust lawsuits. Ted Cruz can't pull it off.

I'd love to see how much revenue these businesses are gaining by each "name, image and likeness" deal. That list will be pretty short to non-existent.

I don't doubt it. I am glad we got him but we need to make sure new staff doesn't turn into old staff and go ape-S on overpaying for talent that are terrible teammates.

I dont get that vibe here, but there are signs. Dimbo spread money around like a fool and we paid a record price for 2022 talent that had no interest in being a good teammate or a good Aggie.

LEt's hope this is not that.

And who cares even if it is true?? This is a professional sport now and should be treated as such.
No one will remember the money invested in a recruit if a player of Hudsons caliber is able to get the football team to Atlanta or the CFP Finals.

We would think of TCU and Texas Tech a whole lot differently if they were able to win the National Title games they appeared in. That is the power of being able to call yourself the National Champion. It gives you gravitas and respect.

This is now the cost of doing business.
