I think I heard this was leaked by a Lubbock media person, consider the source if that's true

First place I've heard it surface was Orangebloods.

This is the right answer. It was posted on Orangebloods by some UT guy who claimed to know Micah's agent, and it was posted before Micah officially announced, much less committed to A&M.

It was NOT a "butthurt" reaction by Tech fans. Most of us were pretty neutral about his leaving.

Side Question: Did an A&M AD say that we did in fact pay $30 mill for the 22' Class?
I troll another SEC Team's Forum and that's been posted several times.

I heard that on xm radio from Rick Neuheisel as well. He said Ross Bjork bragged about that number to other ADs at a dinner.
The closest credible report, I can find, is Bjork adamantly denying A&M Paid $30 mill.
So Bjork Brags one moment and Deny's the next?
"I heard someone say, that someone said on the radio, that the AD said" isn't what I'm looking for.
vander54, do you have insight on this?

This is such a funny argument. Who cares the exact amount?. It was a mind dumbing fee. I did hear Rick Neuheisel say what i posted.

They were hired guns. We failed. We move on.

Because some of us like accuracy rather than the national media and/or someone else controlling a false narrative?

Again, we paid far less for that class than dozens in the new age world since then. But if you listen to the national media (which it's clear you do), you believe we are the only ones who paid a hefty amount for a class, when in reality it is actually quite a modest amount compared to classes now.

Rick Neuheisel is full of it, sorry to burst your bubble.

no one is buying your "we" charade anymore, so you can drop it.

I once met Rick Neuheisel on a flight from Los Angeles to Dallas. I was flying Southwest Airlines and was surprised that Neuheisel and his entire family were sitting in the back of the plane with all the C-Listers.

Coach Neuheisel was a nice guy.

He's a nice guy of course. And he's an asset to cfb. That said, if you listen to his show with any regularity you can tell when he's purely talking out of his ass vs telling true stories and things he knows. Any time he brought up that A&M recruiting class, he talks out of his ass. It's clear as day.

Micah Hudson was one of the highest rated receivers ever recruited at Tech. He was expected to have some impact in the passing game, even though a Freshman. He played in 8 games as opposed to 8 of 18 receivers that played and played in all 12 games. His average gain per reception per game was 15.38 yds and ranked 6th on the roster. In total receptions the receivers ahead of him totaled 84% of the receptions and there were 7 of them. His individual total on receptions was 2.5%. He had no TD receptions and the team had a total of 30. So, for whatever reason, he had negligible impact for the team. His speed in the 100m is in the fastest 2%, so I would not think speed is an issue. For whatever reason Tech did not keep him, I don't know. There is talk about route running, Hopefully whatever the problems that may exist, I hope Elko and his staff can help the young man and he can be productive for our team and program. God Speed Micah.

Sounds exactly like the type of guy our braintrust would overpay for. But hey, he had stars coming out of highschool

I have a feeling most on this thread are going to be happy Hudson is on our roster the next 2-3 years.

Guess what? If we didn't "overpay" for him (you know, overpay by offering market value, in that crazy sense of overpaying), he'd be on texas, LSU, or bama's roster next year.

But hey. Yeah it's only because he has stars.

The 30 million gets twisted it was never 30 million up front. If the 8.. 5-stars played for 3 years that's where the 30 million came from. That's 4 million a player broken up over 3 years. That's not much now especially for a d-linemen.

Hudson will hopefully produce but we didn't over pay because the market has been set. 2022 class we set the market.

It was never 30 million at all. Up front, over 3 years. Never.

Uh, no. Not even remotely accurate or a possibility.

We wouldn't agree to all that for Ryan Williams from Bama, much less a WR from Technical w/ average stats. HS stats and star rankings do not matter when you are in the portal.

Now, I'm sure he got some NIL $$ for sure, that is the name of the game now. He can use that NIL $$ for a car for him or his family, or travel for his family. And it is laughable that Elko and his staff, or ANY college FB staff, would agree that a player gets to decide if and when they play coming off an injury........

He got NIL $$, that's it. Not even a guaranteed playing spot or PT.

How much do you think it was? Since you know how much was it for 8 5star recruits. Take the others players out of the class how much for those players. How did we end up with the greatest class in the history of recruiting?

Considering our entire athletic NIL budget was closer to $10M I'd say less than $10M

If a Cam Newton clone suddenly became available for two years out of some no name JUCO what do you think the market value of a 5 Star dual threat quarterback would be?

What would the BCS community be willing to offer in terms of NIL to entice said player to come and play for the Aggies?

In order to field a team that will consistently compete for SEC championships this is the level of financial commitment that must be taken by the alums, fans and students of the schools football team.

Quiet is kept....but one of the reasons LSU and Alabama can do so well with paying its players are that its sports teams are the biggest deal in its respective states.

Texas A&M has a lot of competition for the sports dollar from the Houston Texans, Houston Rockets, Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs...etc.
Thats not to mention the split university alliances in his state between Texas, Baylor, Tech, SMU.....etc

Texas has its challenges when it comes to building a team that can compete for the Natty. Sometimes its better to neighbor the giant state like Oklahoma, Oregon, Arizona, Georgia, and Louisiana.

You can build your roster with homegrown 3 star players that grew up rooting for you, and then pick off your 4 star and 5 star players from Texas, California and Florida.

You do this year after year, and suddenly you have a team from a small population state like Oregon, Oklahoma, or Louisiana that for over a 20 year period have been consistently competing for conference titles and national titles.
