I was informed that these orgs took advantage of guest tickets, which take the place of sports pass holders in seating. It would explain why juniors got standing room already. These frats and flos had 400 or so each and then pulled an additional 100 guest tickets each- I would guess there were 1000 guest tickets pulled, and at $200 each is $200000 total. A&M does not normally sell these guest tickets at big games until Friday after every pass has been able to be redeemed, but instead sold these until 3pm on Monday. Total money grab by whoever is in charge of tickets, absolutely disgraceful.

It is starting to look more and more like somebody needs to get fired over this debacle. There is no reason there should have been guest tickets available for this game when we will have tons of actual students with sportspasses that won't be able to get a ticket.

As a current student who camped from 5 o clock saturday until ticket pull on monday, this was my experience. We tried a list, however there were too many students who showed up later on saturday night, thinking they would get first in line, angry that there was already 100 students there, that said anything not sanctioned by the university they would not follow, and decided that once the authorities allowed us to camp at the windows that they would rush to the front.
The problem is that a higher authority never showed up. The cops that were there for game traffic told us that "student affairs" would come around midnight and work with the students to fairly and smoothly set up the lines, following the order method that the students had agreed on. They assured the 90% of us who had formed lines and a list that they would not let the 10% on the outside take our place. At 10 o clock, they left, and never returned.
On saturday night at 12, a cop showed up with some core boy volunteers to set up barricades and said "move forward slowly." Obviously no one moved forward slowly. The list went out the window, and ticket pull proceeded from there. Throughout saturday night, all of sunday, up until around an hour before ticket pull, there was not a single university affiliated person that said anything about rules, process, or order. It was a complete free for all. Multiple fights, ambulances called, the 2 am "charge" incident as people went to the bonfire memorial, it was a madhouse.
There obviously needs to be some reform. Whether that be a limit on the number of people that can pull together in the group pull line, as there were rumors of groups of 500 and 1000, limits on how many groups of 10 a single person can pull in the senior line, different camping rules, or even an online system, something has to change. I really just think that there should have been more university presence to manage things on saturday/sunday, instead of nothing and no one at all.

Did someone eat the list?

I did it once when I was a cadet. Buddy and I bought sweatshirts from target to wear over our uniforms and made fake tsip student ids in case the asked to see it. The person at the gate did not give a **** and let us in. We wore our sweatshirts all the way till we got to our seats. When we took them off, all hell broke loose. People screaming at us, hurling insults, trying to get in our face, throwing beer at us, etc.

Tbf only the first 10-15 tickets had guest passes on them in the pictures posted above.

ticket pull is bad now because of how expensive tickets are, so it's the reselling that is the issue.

Even during Johnny's reign, ticket's were no where near what they cost now. The incentive for a college student to sell their ticket has risen exponentially

So
1. No guest passes
2. All pulled ticket barcodes should be associated/connected with the student that pulls them
3. Student ID required at gate with student ticket
4. Students caught reselling a student ticket will get their sports pass revoked indefinitely

So if a person without an ID tries to use a student ticket, that ticket can be tracked to who pulled it, and the student can be investigated. This puts the responsibility on ticket pullers, if you pull 500 you better have your house in order, because one bad apple could bring you down

What ever happened to just tailgating until you found a bimbo that didn't care about the game or an underclassmen that is too drunk to enter the stadium? I swear half my tickets I got from other people for free or found on the ground - never had a sports pass

I saw some pics on reddit - pretty surprising to see how trashed the plaza was.

And someone over there is saying the resellers are using Snapchat to resell their guest passes - where I'm guessing neither you nor I are looking.

I don't know the details of student tickets in the current sense. Back when I was a student on the 80's we still used a prepaid coupon book for student tickets. As it still is today, student tickets were half-price of a regular reserved seat season ticket. If a student wanted to bring a guest, there were two options. 1) Use the coupon book of a student friend to redeem that student ticket and pay the extra cost to bring it to full price so the guest didn't need to bring an ID. 2) Students also had the option to purchase a "guest ticket" coupon book which was exactly the same as the student ticket coupon book, but it was full price, and when the coupon was redeemed it was for a seat in the student section and came with a sticker that it was a guest seat which did not require an ID. These were for those folks that had a planned guest like a Blinn girlfriend or a HS little brother. Since the guest coupon book was prepaid, they couldn't really refuse issuance of a ticket.

My point in all this is that there is a justification for guest tickets, and we need to be careful about these kneejerk responses "no guest passes for this game", especially in the case if someone prepaid before the season began. I understand there is abuse of the system going on. However, let's be a little more intentional with targeting the abuse and not throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Guest passes make sense for a team trying to fill a stadium, but that's not the case anymore.

Also, we have so many ways to connect now with technology, if you need to bring a guest just find someone that is willing to let you borrow a student ID, hell I had 4 IDs that I would let people borrow for the rec or other things

If you prepay for something you should get it. Do they not allow prepayment?

And for the record, we didn't have a problem filling the stadium for t.u. in 1980s, and they still allowed guest passes.

This is from Monday afternoon and seems .... pretty stupid and potentially dangerous setup:

Camping out for ticket pull was a thing in the 90s, but I don't remember that kind of crowding or any of the bullrushes people have described. But the enrollment was slightly lower when most of us were students, and we didn't have all the platforms available for scalping tickets.

Back in the day, the main scalpers for Aggie football games were two old twin brothers who would walk around Joe Rout looking like they were on the verge of a heart attack.

*and Burdizzo, I doubt anyone has been able to prepay for Guest Passes in a long time. You might have been one of the last groups to get ticket books; we had to pull for each game by the mid 90s.
OMB100GAS

Yes but guess passes are mostly a thing for games like New Mexico State

and pre-payment doesn't resolve anything because the value of the ticket is so much more than the original payment that the incentive to sell is still very high

We have essentially created a speculative bubble, and thanks to retail trading and finance bros on tik tok, a very large portion of the student body is looking to buy low and sell high

There are many ways to bring a guest to a game that don't necessitate a specified guest pass, again just borrow an ID

Guess that's why Jimbo isn't an Aggie anymore lmao

Lying is not an issue, IDs were obtained within school policies

Cheating refers to studies

Stealing refers to physical property

And I'm not saying you even have to claim you are the person on the borrowed ID, you should just be able to use a valid ID to enter with a student ticket, it's very simple 1:1 student ID to ticket ratio, shouldn't be able to use multiple of the same ID for same event

They ran out of guest tickets or decided they're going to impinge their committed distribution to sports pass holders. As I mentioned in 1979 the third deck wasn't finished and they did not distribute my ticket specifically for the Texas game. The football ticket is a contract. They must fulfill it except due to acts of God.

The offer of guest passes accompanying the ticket pull is not a contract until seat ticket issued.

You don't prepay for guest tickets at the beginning of the season. You pay for the guest ticket when you buy the ticket for each game.

Misrepresentation is lying. Letting some use an ID in that manner is misrepresentation. That's the whole effing point of an ID

You may not call it lying, but this type of approach and attitude is what eventually evolves into people abusing otherwise reasonable policy.

Maximum FLO size is less than 100 kids so not sure where this is coming from. My son said a frat pullled 700 tickets - He also heard about a Flo pulling 400 - rumor is people paid to have ticket pulled He has no idea if it is true. Lots of rumors floating around. He is a director in his flo and they did not do a group pull. He (junior) was able to pull a seat this morning at 8 am - Standing Room Only by 9am - not sure where the juniors, sophomores and freshman going to stand - the system is broken

One Frat pulled roughly 0.7% the capacity of Kyle? I'm calling shenanigans on that. That sounds like a fish that's gotten bigger every time the story was told.

700+400 would combine to be 1% of TOTAL tickets Kyle Field and not an insignificant percentage of the entire student allotment.

At this point, SAE should be kicked off campus, and have their sports passes revoked for the next 5 years. And I wouldn't shed a tear.

When were they allowed back on campus? Far as I know they have been off campus for over a decade, and even before that mens clubs and the corps made up most mens organizations- unsure of the ratio now between frats and other mens orgs/corps.

When I attended frats were generally looked down upon by everyone except some very politically social females in sororities, as they would do events together.

Most dudes would tease girls for having to spend their evening with a frat lol

Not sure what it looks like now, but I think SRO is technically supposed to stand in designated areas on the concourse, behind marked out yellow lines. I'm sure it'll work just fine with no crowding into the benches.
