Guests are $200 and doesn't mention into one but that has been the rule since I was there. grads/seniors could pull a single lower class sports pass ticket instead golf buying a guest.
Conversions are $100 each.

I'll note the whole ticket pull concept mainly identifies those committed to waiting so the school permitting the farce is egg on their face. Can't just state rules…

Wait so it's not a $25 fee and a sticker anymore? Hahahahhaha

What is FLO?

Freshman Leadership Organization. Not really sure how they were able to pull with the seniors.
Groups of 11 or more can pull on Monday or Tuesday regardless of classification.

Wow. I am not sure when this started or who thought this was a good idea. I can only guess it was started in response to Corps block seating.

If the story above about a group getting 400 tickets is true, this is Bad Bull.

All groups get auto 3rd deck. HTH.

Thanks. They should maybe publish that on the FAQ so crotchety old Aggies like me stay in check. 400 tickets in one pull, if true, still sounds excessive. I would suggest a cap on the range of 50. And it should still follow the rule that 50% of the tickets you're pulling are at a classification for that day. If you're going to the game to be social with 50 people, I feel like you're going for the wrong reason.
If it pushes everyone else down this is a good thing.

Fish camps do it all the time for the first couple games of the season. I've personally seen in excess of 800 tickets pulled at a single time on a Monday. Im not saying it's the best process in the world but you also shouldn't be expecting to get the best seats available when you pull in such a high quantity.

Each school uses a different system. Some schools don't give you a physical ticket and the camping out happens at the gates of the stadium before game day. All those tickets are GA for the student section which also causes fighting and jostling for seats.

I guess you could utilize a system like season tickets for students where each get an assigned seat for the entire season. But even then trading and movement will happen. But in that use case you could utilize a priority point system, by class and by sporting events attended. I'm just spit balling here.

I'm not sure when you went but it was never $25 and a sticker when I was in school. It always changed depending on the week and the opponent. Bama and LSU was always like $100 or more for a guest pass

As I understand it, FLO is sort of the "parent company" name for multiple subsets that might contain 50+ people each. I don't know how many subsets there are, but if each of them had multiple members go to group ticket pull, I can see it easily reaching 400 pretty quickly. I have no doubt that some enterprising students are turning this into a money-making opportunity, but I might tap the brakes at blaming one particular group. And as mentioned before, I believe they are relegated to third deck or in the southeast corner upper deck.

I don't think this process is anything new, but the anticipation over this particular game can absolutely cause a sh*tshow. I'll agree that allowing guest passes before all the current students had a turn was probably a bad idea.

Class of '89.

Fall of '85, face value of a regular reserved seat was $25 for the t.u. game, which meant face value of a student ticket was $12.50. if you wanted a guest pass, you paid another $12.50, and they added a sticker onto the ticket saying that it was a student section ticket that didnt need an ID to enter.

Archaic technology, I know.

The problem isn't the technology. The problem is some people either abuse the system or they think it doesn't apply to them. I also saw some pictures of a lot of junk left behind because people were too lazy to pick up their crap.

Lazy Aggies frustrate me.

The problem is that the tickets are worth so darn much money. I don't blame students who sell tickets. I was as big a fan as they come but If I thought I could get over $1k for a ticket I would have sold that ticket in a heartbeat. Who knows, maybe kids just aren't as poor as I was. It makes me sad that the experience was so miserable for students. Just hope they are rewarded with an amazing game. It seems like this could have easily been predicted and they could have managed the situation much better. Hopefully some lessons were learned.

So the process hasn't really changed then. I'm class of '17 and that is essentially the same process just prices are way different.

Take out corps, take out flo, take out group, give 2 guest tickets a year, do it all by seniority online.

Make it all based off of who has been here.

Get advanced and do it with rankings using past pulls

Only difference being that back in the 80s we did not have large block seating, including the Corps. Max any one person could get was ten tickets, with five of those being classification of that day's draw. I support the Corps, but I thought it was a bad idea because that meant if the Corps got to sit as a large contiguous group they were going to be forced to allow other groups to do it too. Now we see the problems this creates.

In my humble opinion, they need to drop the large block seating, or significantly cut back on the max number of seats pulled by one group. Perhaps only do large blocks for lower profile games. I don't care if the seats are on the third deck or the top of the end zone. One student group tying up several hundred tickets for a game like t.u. is bad policy. Just think of the outrage if Zachry Construction or Clear Channel Communications bought 500 tickets for the game.

And if campouts continue creating problems, trash, and desecration of important landscaping, then maybe we think about a lottery system with a seniority component.

I'm for that too as long as no one's life is at stake. We used to let students build a big wooden structure by themselves up until some of them died. Now we don't do that anymore. I have read reports that crowd management at ticket pull was non-existent and EMS was called due to some people getting crushed by the crowd. I would for someone to get hurt over football tickets.

As a current student who camped from 5 o clock saturday until ticket pull on monday, this was my experience. We tried a list, however there were too many students who showed up later on saturday night, thinking they would get first in line, angry that there was already 100 students there, that said anything not sanctioned by the university they would not follow, and decided that once the authorities allowed us to camp at the windows that they would rush to the front.
The problem is that a higher authority never showed up. The cops that were there for game traffic told us that "student affairs" would come around midnight and work with the students to fairly and smoothly set up the lines, following the order method that the students had agreed on. They assured the 90% of us who had formed lines and a list that they would not let the 10% on the outside take our place. At 10 o clock, they left, and never returned.
On saturday night at 12, a cop showed up with some core boy volunteers to set up barricades and said "move forward slowly." Obviously no one moved forward slowly. The list went out the window, and ticket pull proceeded from there. Throughout saturday night, all of sunday, up until around an hour before ticket pull, there was not a single university affiliated person that said anything about rules, process, or order. It was a complete free for all. Multiple fights, ambulances called, the 2 am "charge" incident as people went to the bonfire memorial, it was a madhouse.
There obviously needs to be some reform. Whether that be a limit on the number of people that can pull together in the group pull line, as there were rumors of groups of 500 and 1000, limits on how many groups of 10 a single person can pull in the senior line, different camping rules, or even an online system, something has to change. I really just think that there should have been more university presence to manage things on saturday/sunday, instead of nothing and no one at all.

A&M statement to the Batt:

Quote:

"We distributed over 30,000 tickets in the first day marking a record," the statement reads. "That meant we had a large number of students at the ticket pull amid rainy weather. The health and safety of our Aggie community is paramount. Based on feedback from our students and staff, we will be taking a hard look at our ticket pull process to determine whether more changes are needed."

Maximum FLO size is less than 100 kids so not sure where this is coming from. My son said a frat pullled 700 tickets - He also heard about a Flo pulling 400 - rumor is people paid to have ticket pulled He has no idea if it is true. Lots of rumors floating around. He is a director in his flo and they did not do a group pull. He (junior) was able to pull a seat this morning at 8 am - Standing Room Only by 9am - not sure where the juniors, sophomores and freshman going to stand - the system is broken

So many people paid to have their ticket pulled, that rumor is very true. And I think if the system stays as it is, that's what I'm going to do the next time, because I don't want to have to deal with this again.

That is typical of the athletic department. Years ago there was a game that was cold and rainy. In the third quarter I went looking for coffee or hot chocolate. I walked around the entire first level looking for a concession stand that had some. They were either out or never had any. I finally found one stand that was brewing coffee while about 20 people waited in line.

That Sunday I sent a complaint email to the AD. On Monday I got a reply telling me how hard Levy works and that they sold 30,000 servings of hot chocolate, but they never apologized. It was really as if they didn't care about improving.

One Frat pulled roughly 0.7% the capacity of Kyle? I'm calling shenanigans on that. That sounds like a fish that's gotten bigger every time the story was told.

700+400 would combine to be 1% of TOTAL tickets Kyle Field and not an insignificant percentage of the entire student allotment.

Keeping the tradition of ticket pull is important as everything continues to get further and further away from real meat space community.

Whoever made the decision decades ago that ticket pull was not something the athletics department wanted to police is probably long gone. My only assumption is that they decided there was a risk the student could be deemed employees and get overtime (on top of liability issues) - and the very rare instances of someone cutting weren't worth the risks.

Obviously this needs to be fixed to keep going and there are tons of simple processes that could fix it - but they all require an actual policy and procedure instead of the wild west system we developed.

Easy fix: put a student ID reader on the wall next to each window, and grant a few students the privilege to boot people from that line that aren't present at roll call. You can get much more exotic from there (ex swipe all sports passes on random time 2 days before pull so cutting literally means nothing). But it still inherently it requires the athletics department to confront whatever demon is stopping them from actually enforcing the student-lead system.

They probably did it when they had 30k total students. We now have 40k sports pass holders ALONE. Also no frats/orgs that would buy up thousands of tickets. Kinda hard to figure out a way around those issues.
